Most are ping whiners that refuse to play with 70+ ping, but in NA that's impossible most of the time given how bizzare QL routing seems to be.

I used to ping better to swedish servers than texas servers at one point. How fucked up is that.

i used to be able to play with 19-23 ping. it's no longer the case. Also with chicago gone, there's only a few options left for people to play with a decent ping, needed to compete with the incubus' who have a ping of 12-18. The average ping on na servers is 60-80....

I play CTF, FFA and CA. Here's my take.

IRC is not a medium for attracting new players. All the older players are already in the channels where the american quake community idle. IRC fills a gap in what QuakeLive.com does not provide. A place for the community to organize. The forums are not a good solution to this problem.

Most people don't play games for prizes. They play the game for fun and to enjoy the competition with other players. Quake has a spoiled history of having eSports credibility and now that's drying up. Many of the elite players who would play this game to 'get paid' are now taking a break or moving on to other games where they can 'get paid'.

So that being said, there are barriers to having fun and growing the game. Firstly the tier system is bad. Look at all other successful games like CS, COD, BF etc. No tiers, everyone plays together. If your looking for skill matched games then do what every other community does, team ladders/leagues - see past success of CAL, CPL, TWL etc.. and PUGs. These barely exist but are starting to emerge: QLRanks =)

QuakeLive would be a much better game if there were not so many ways to slice up the community. Tiers, Premium/Non-Premium, etc. All of these things divide the community and make it harder to find games to play in. When that becomes the case people perceive that the game is 'dead' and will move on.

The EU scene was bigger than the US scene in Q3, too. US likes FFA/CA, EU likes TDM/duel. You can't expect things to be the same everywhere.

now on to leagues. well there have been soooo many leagues over the years. a lot of them especially team leagues, just flat out fail. why? because apparently if its a month long its too long and nobody can be arsed to schedule and show to their games. Oh and many people sign up and usually dont show at all. draft leagues? well they have worked but then you get people signing up with their names and also with an alias so if they dont get picked by their regular name they will NOT SHOW UP and play under the alias name their friend picked.

1) what happens in pugs, extends to pub games as well (stacking)
2) and any leagues that did exist and were somewhat successful (bibs.ql,) didn't last because of a lack of prize money to extend it into a 2nd season.

Overall, it never showed any promise whatsoever as that elitiest attitude has been in this game from the very start. And it came from the q3 veterans that syncerror invited into beta starting on july 7th, 2008.

And i will say again, to those who are in disbelief. Syncerror has a hand in all of this, he played for the longest time with those elites in .403 games and in games with clan eq. He basically took part in many-a-stacks in 2009. Thats' right, syncerror himself engaged in these actions. Don't forget sync wanted his 2 kids to turn pro one day. Thats' been his goal with .404 and .403 all along. To give them a chance to grow as competitors in the young gaming club by playing the best in the game (incubus,etc).

It's the elitist attitude of the top players that have pushed away any playerbase this game had in NA. There used to be a time when i would see 10-20 new players a day. Now, its' like 1-2 if that. QL in NA has hit rockbottom and there's nowhere left to go.

facts:

Team games:

1. In past 4 years I have seen about 6 somewhat serious attempts to have an organized ctf/tdm pickup channel in NA. none of them lasted more than 2-3 weeks.

2. The somewhat small organized tdm/ctf scene we have is entirely driven by meritocracy (i.e. you get to play only if you are top 20 NA material) or nepotism (you are friends with or suck dick of previous type), so for a normal average player there is no way of playing a organized tdm / ctf.

3. The only other option is existence of leagues with multiple divisions to incorporate more people, but without the exception of one or two ctf leagues none have ever completed even a full season.

4. Pub CA however is extremely popular, and you can always find a server with a mix of actually good, hacker and total noobs anytime of the day or night.

Duel

1. Theres no shortage of lone wolf uppper middle tier players who would bait forever in a server running ztn so that people of various skill come and get their ass whooped, however they tend to disconnect as soon as they get beaten.

2. There is a small but significant amount of duelers who would play anyone semi-decent, not afraid to lose and actually trying to improve themselves as a player: this is the only type of player I have some respect for, ziel / mongo etc are of these type and they have become pretty good.

3. There definitely exists a small community of duel players who know each other and play each other often, this part makes quake survive in NA for the most part other than the bunch of RA3 import that constantly pub CA.

4. The rest of the scene consists of people who only watch pro's duke it out in a duel server but have not ever played a duel themselves in ages.

Butcher hit the nail on the head. The game had a couple pickups but if you weren't known or sucked off of some known guys dick you would either never get picked or the password to this server or the invite. You probably didn't even know they were playing unless you got that message through quake live friend's or gamesurge and guess what. It was always just ONE big pickup of those twenty same guys playing with each other, while noobs played ctf with runes or space ctf, these guys would play the decent maps but only against each other. You want in on the professional play, too bad, it's one pickup and it's only 4s or 5s and there's a pool of like twenty pros and they just stay and play and the new guys don't get a chance, even though, they could've probably made a mix of two pickups or even three pickups, with a range of skills and made the matches more interesting, but fuck that we're elitists and we only play the guys we know and the guys who lick from the bottom of our sack. This whole mentality killed the ctf scene.

The sad part is this is how it was when I played and that was over a year ago.

when halo 3 was out, mlg filled up many 256 team brackets. i dont even know if cs in its golden days could fill up a na 256 team bracket.

nah, the main complaint is the starting weapon. i've spoken to many halo players and they hate how quake mg is so weak. they also hate the spamming nature of the rockets.

basically they want a player to have a chance to live off spawn via a good starting weapon. which works in halo since you move much slower.

these things isnt what makes difference. you could give them a rail to start with, it wouldnt matter... a new, yet fast paced game have to come out giving these people the illusion of catching up, otherwise it would take years evenlose against mindskillers within reasonable boarders, and the top will be still very far... if not the starting weapon + spam there would be 1000 other excuse...

Made one on GameSurge -- #qlpickup -- months ago with a working bot that simultaneously supports multiple gametypes (CA, CTF, TDM, etc.) -- not a single game has been played, and the bot has been up for months and still is. Too late, the game has been dead in NA for 2 years now.

From what I've seen, any pickups being played in NA are the result of "the elite players" who only send invites out via their QL friends' lists.

I've been playing some TDM pickups and I'm not great at TDM. It's all about not being an asshole to people in game so you make friends who will ask you to play TDM with them.

It's funny, they all say they want new blood, they want the game to succeed but when a new guy just wants some experience or to get a feel for the game, they don't let him. They aren't playing for money, they aren't doing any league type play, it's just a pickup.

3 FACTORS only apply if you don't have one you aren't playing
1. you're well-known and good
2. you're bad but well known
3. you're bad (or good, who gives a fuck,) but you know someone well-known in real life, or hold his cock for him when he takes a piss, and wipe the tip clean with your tongue

Most people don't have these factors, it's the same twenty to fifty guys with these factors, and in most cases the people who get in because of factor 3 (ie I suck z4's dick), are mediocre at best and a new player might actually communicate and play better than them

The truth is, American quakers, don't want new blood, they want what they're used to, you let a shitty play in your pickup or scrim, you're asking to be outcasted from the community, no one wants to stand out, it's easier to just callvote a kick, and kick the shitties, and then start the pickup

For me, I'd like to be better, but I just don't have the patience to deal with constantly evolving problems with the game itself- from crashes on dc, crashes on join; random and steady fps drops and gains; random server conditions- I have no idea what consistency feels like in QL.

Personally, I haven't had motivation to play. There was a time when I first started playing Quake Live (my first quake game) where I tried really hard to improve, but now its lost its appeal.

The game seems like its running in place for years and years.

It also doesn't give enough to warrant my subscription. Especially when compared to the other sub based game I play (world of warcraft) where there is new shit to do every few months.

I am an unknown name in the quake scene but towards the middle/end of the summer I was hosting competitive NA TDM pickups daily. There are players who want to play competitive tdm...stop being lazy, make friends, be patient, and you'll be setting up games in no time.

I will agree with whoever said you need to be a 'good' to play. The reason is this: TDM pickups are very competitive, people play to win. If you play a match giving it your all and see a guy on your team with a net of -60 (essentially ruining the match for both the winners and losers) you're going to be pissed. If you're a 'bad' player practice gametypes other than tdm to improve. Play FFA to improve your weapon skills, play duel to learn timing + control. Download Mumble for VOIP and get a mic...

joined a 2v2 tourney with a friend couple months ago

first match against rapha-clock, easy to expect the outcome, we got stomped but played both maps til the end and everything was nice and well mannered.

second match against guys named plague and whaz.

I really don't understand people who played the game for like 10 years straight and still put down lower skilled players for the growth of their e-penises.

I don't put down shitties that i'm stomping. However if they are on my team being shit, then i rage at them for dragging me down.

Also, I leave newbs alone that have a real problem of why they suck at quake. Like usually I will help out really bad players that I stomp, if they keep playing me over and over without whine. Shows me they have what it takes so i give them tricks and tips. Maybe spend a few days teaching them. They usually get called hack for suddenly becoming ownage. But it's because these idiots have like 80 FPS or 60hz monitors or 125hz mouse rate and don't know what the fuck they are doing in quake.

But if they say - like this 1 guy, he had parkinsons for real and was playing quake still and trying his hardest. So i give him a pass, helped him as much as I can and join his team when i see him, to help him win, cuz this nigga HAS FUCKING PARKINSONS, AND PLAYS QUAKE @ TIER 4 AND STILL OWNS SOME OF THESE SHITTIES.

Since that died, there doesn't seem to be aynthing happening worth mentioning in NA scene.

You guys need front end people to spread the word.

Many euros watched QL.tv when euro scene was lacking streams and good commentary. Now there are a few streams with lvl taking the cake.

Like I said in another post here, I think the way QL's hit detection is on 70+ ping is one of the problems in NA. Most of us don't ping as well as Euros and since we have a smaller community on top of that, it makes it a lot harder to find games. (especially if you're not playing in the evening)

I personally only have two servers in QL that I ping under 70, and since neither of them are near the center of the US, tdm pickups are out of the question for me.

In cpma on the other hand, I can play almost anywhere in the US, and still hit shots well, because the anti-lag in cpma supports a much wider range of pings.

the attitude is really baffling to be honest. i mean i understand the fact that some of the older good players dont really want to sit on irc and wait for a pickup to happen, they just want to jump on servers with their friends and play a quick game. but i dont get why the more active good players, who sit on ql all night, wont play irc pickups just cos they might have to play with lower tier players.

ive seen so many sporadic attempts at getting pickups going, both irc based and not, all of which have failed. it just makes me sad really.

to me the obvious solution is for the newer players to completely ignore the old ones and start a pickup channel on their own. this would take a couple of guys willing to stick to the job for a couple of months to get the critical number of players needed to sustain a pickup channel, sort of the way shlt did for #uscpmpickup when it first started.

the newer players you speak of are mostly gone now. I tried it with my old clan and have witnessed several other clans trying the same. The biggest problem time and time again is the fact that people jsut don't know about it and that noone has generated any interest about it. The problem really is irc. Something should have been integrated into the website from the very beginning, such as battle.net that connects everyone together via global chat, chatrooms, etc. That way people could organize things, clan games, pickups,... as it stands now, it's just a hassle, a waste of time and as you said most people just want to jump in a game and play, not waste hours upon hours waiting around.

Until something like that gets put on quakelive.com, it's going to be very difficult getting people together with as split up as this community already is. All of this should have been available for premium/pro subscribers in 2010 last year when ql still had players...

half of those players were clan members. I used to have a nice long list of clans from 2010, but in simple terms, those clan members pretty much got premium/pro subscriptions across the board and started playing in games against or with each other on those new premium map servers. The games basicaly halved the 2nd week after quakecon and overtime that division only widened. As the pub servers declined, more and more new players moved to ca , where they stayed to this day. The other half of the casual community dissapeared shortly after subscriptions were announced all together. Many of the guys i used to play with never came back. That left only a few tierslummers like incubus and herc to pummel the remaining playerbase.out of existence. Anyone who's left to this day, took part in it (albeit on diff levels) or couldn't care less for wins/losses (stats). Guys like tandersoh1 etc. A lot of the hard core guys that were playing everyday like myself left when the leaderboard permanenly broke shortly thereafter and probably stuck around till it was removed all together. The leaderboard was , what many have forgotten, a big reason why many people came from q3 to play in ql. There was also the removal of punkbuster which once again made people ragequit, (those that didn't want to waste another min against cheaters). And the lack of montly updates as promised, but that is a broader topic. All in all, CTF players migrated to another mode, and then simply quit playing overtime as other events unfolded (some of which i just mentioned).

I wish i could fill the void even more, but a lot of things happened behind the scenes that only a few people were privy too and they aren't around anymore to give that side of it. Then again... some of those people will eventually come out of the woodworks to finish the story when ql finally dies out.

another problem that i could see happening with this too is that if a noob pickup channel DID reach critical mass, then higher-tier players would say "hey lets go stat pad", or "lets make a tier-down account".

If you want new players playing the game then there needs to be a way for noobs to have fun. I coaxed another friend into trying out quake live yesterday but he gave it up almost immediately because he kept dieing over and over.

I can fuck around in tf2, bf2, wow, sc2, minecraft, etc with friends and they'll still have fun even if they're bad. It just isn't happening in quake live.

Quake is utterly shit when you suck, unless the gamemode is fun. I remember being horrible at quake1 but I played mplayer and we played Q-ball. A hilariously fun mode where even shitties could excel if they had some speed and tactics. If i played dm at the start i'd get stomped so hard i would have quit quake long ago.


This is why I wanted freezetag to be free, it draws newbs to it, mass amounts of new players would flock to it, get some fun lulz times and then eventually move over to the hardcore modes.

IRC is dead in NA. It used to flourish with eager- to- play quakers. Now, the pickup scene is a mess. Full of elitests who like to fool themselves into thinking they are gods. I mean, there were better pickup games in q4 without all the "I'm so great" attitudes.
Everyone wants to play CA ( which isn't a big deal for quick fun ) instead of TDM. TDM is where the skill is or CTF (which gets old quick).
Noone wants to play good competition and possibly lose, because losing is like the worst thing ever apparently.
NA is full of whiners and assholes anymore. That is why I don't play quakelive anymore, and I know it'll never make it back to the top of the competitive tourney ladder. Ever. Quakelive is dead in NA. It's just a small scene that has been taken over by randy's and dicks. Q2 has a better chance of life than quakelive.

also, calm your horses, i just added you. I got tons of records to look through. If you think someone else belongs higher or lower, just say so and i'll consider it.

What was that one match? Again, you've never played in organized games using voice comms, where players are picked by captains based on their skill, and where everyone knows what they are supposed to be doing. Again, you judge all of this on your pub experiences, which are absolutely irrelevant.

if you want a PERFECT ladder, then put in some input, attacking it as completely irrelevant is pointless, especially as it was just a mere example. Hell if i knew you wanted it to be perfect i would have started looking through every single profile and matched up how people do against each other. You know i'm capable and willing to put in the time, so i suggest you change your tone and that perfection may just come to fruition. Again, simple suggestions as to where people belong are appreciated, eg: constructive criticism. So again i say, who needs moved up or down.

edit: also keep in mind that pickups rely solely on position which doesn't show a players overall ability (to play both o and d, which is part of the formula i use for the ladder (their ability to play any position and dominance of that position). Also i've seen plenty of matchups (over 10,000 games) to know who matches up against who if 1v1 (w/ 4 noobs), as most if not all of these players have at some point played in pub games. And those were the results i've seen time and time again. Again, realize that people's skill goes up or down based on activity (heck om1cron just got back and is rusty as hell, that doesn't mean he wont' get back to his old form, etc... it's a subjective ladder, which can change therefore at any time, but i digress, i'll help improve it,so just simply tell me who you think 1) should be added (i'm sure its' only 25% finished) and 2) what changes you'd like to see made. thanks

celestial being tier 10 was a joke (hence why i added w/cheats), without them, he'd be ranked much lower, but i can't estimate where as he mainly plays ctf4. Yes i missed people, as small as the na ctf community is, there were at one point many accouunts. I have no problems making it more accurate, but you'll have to give me more time. viju definitely belongs on the list and i will add him accordingly.

I'm not ignorant. I have been gaming for over 17 years (not just quake so don't assume i think i'm awesome just because I played quake, i'm awesome because i'm awesome.) and found that if I want a good game, i can't rely on someone telling me what skill I am due to statistics, i have to make some friends that are my level or above and just play and play and play. You will not be making friends in quake because noone wants to play with a whiney mcwhinerton who cares not about getting better, but only about making excuses for losing.

I played quakelive for a long time. I have played matches with lots of these long time q3 players (since that's where I come from and that's where I had to deal with the asskickings.) and some of them are VERY good. Probably the people you think cheat or slum.

I can have a competitive game whenever I want because I know people in the community that I can be competitive with instead of just jumping in with some random faggot (such as yourself) and getting bitched at for 'cheating' or 'slumming' or getting raped by 10 frags because he's an aliasing veteran. The way new players are treated in this game is far, above and beyond the worst experience a newbie can have in a game. And then the elites like yourself wonder why they flock to lol, where teamwork truly matters and where one weak link in a game = a loss every single time (cuz tahts' how dota is played). In quake one guy could carry a whole team, so there's no reason for him to give a flying eff for the other players on his team. Hence, no reason to coach them, be nice to them or even talk to them.

i can't speak for cooloutac's personal experience in game. But there's a trend. The elites get away with murder practically in game, the newbie then goes on the forum to find why, he gets no answer and he then ragequits. Some ragequit melodramatically (by getting cheats), and others voice their opinions about the downfalls of the game. In the end, nothing anyone has done to date had made any real difference but that doesn't mean we have to resign to the status quo. I guess it all comes down to how much passion you have for the game and how much you believe in it.

Based on your demure here on this forum, i can't say you care much,for this game, if at all. And like vedic, your opinions don't matter much since you have very little experience within this game itself (unless you can prove to me you're someone who was at the top of the leaderboard for time played in 2009). For someone who obviously has no idea what it was like in Q3, you should really avoid speaking about experience. Hell, you weren't even in closed beta, and you're currently BANNED. You're still just a newbie, and you're lashing out because of a personal vendetta against Syncerror. You have very limited experience in QL, and apparently no experience in any other Quake, or even any other game.

It's not about vets wanting people to go through what they had to go through, but rather the fact that people have to go through it in EVERY game. It's not something specific to QL, and isn't even nearly as bad as it was in Q3. This is no excuse for the problems with the game, but it's also not the reason that the game failed.

CS and Q3 came out around the same time, and CS has never had any of the features that you seem to think are REQUIRED for a game to succeed. 1) making a wc3 dota map is exponentially more difficult and time consuming than making a q3 map has woot, a new map maker, has proven in the past 2 weeks. (try making a dota map in that time period lol!)

The very idea of balance for quake is preposterous. Quake is so competitive with each skill that is learned that it makes finding perfect balances extremely hard.

Rapha beats 99% of the quake community because his skills are too high. If this was one of your shitty games we'd have a revolving door for tournament winners where each tournament would have a different guy winning it. However quake skill can be measured.

Having 1 tier 4 and 3 tier3s on 1 side vs 4 tier 3s on the other side will always be fucked up and stacked.

You just can't balance that. Also because those 3 tier3s will all be at a different skill level as well. Making the whole thing convoluted. You need 10000 tiers for quake to become sort of balanced, but you'd need 1 million people playing first to get that shit filled up in the first place.

So quake will always have lopsided scores. Sometimes you see duel scores like 20-5 but the casters say 'it was close' its cuz a single moment in the match gave 1 guy 3-4 spawn frags, and it was GG, the rest of frags were the other guy rushing to try to make something happened.

Balance =/= Quake.

We balance the game mode, we balance the maps, we balance the guns. Skill imbalance from player to player is what quake creates, because of all the things you need to learn and keep at a top level.

Now try to understand that.

Automatic skill matching is rare in any game, and even more rare to be implemented correctly. Really the only game that has this is SC2, and it could still use a little polish.

Ladders are in very few games, and generally rely on the previously mentioned skill matching - again, really only SC2 with any credit here.

Team balancing has never been good in ANY game. The most fair it has ever been is in modern Valve games, and it's usually because it will just shuffle the teams - autoswitch itself rarely ever helps.

Ray commonly refers to your arguments when it comes to WoW, but it seems like you've never actually PLAYED WoW. The game has no chat moderation in any way/shape/form, and even IF you managed to report someone for cursing in chat (after 12-36 hours waiting for your ticket), the worst that would happen to them is a small warning email. The only way Blizzard will take action against you is if you are blatantly cheating.

9PM is prime time for America, and you have 100 players. That's less people playing QL than are browsing ESR. Hell, that's probably less than Q3. 7500-8000 would put it in the top 10 on steam, but not the top 5. As of right now, that's less than the very bottom of steam stats, and even less players than there are playing the Civilzation V demo.

As you were shown many times, QL at its peak was barely a blip compared to other games. id failing has killed what was left, but you never had a chance from the start. It's not about the game being "dead" like Q3, because Q3 can exist without any central authority. QL entirely relies on id, and if the game fails, you can't play it! You don't get a choice, you can't just run your own server - the game is just gone. QL is dead because it is only a matter of time until id shuts it down, and it has NO ability to exist after that. No, Europe did not have 10x more players in Q3. Europe had 10x more players in duel/TDM, but the spread across the world wasn't all that huge.

That's absolutely HORRIBLE for a game. The bar by which every game is judged is the 1 million copies sold milestone. No Quake has done this since Quake 2. Quake 4 came closer than Q3, and it still tanked.

That's the thing - you can't. You can't play QL when they shut it down. It's gone. It's over. You either go back to Q3, or play a different game.

Those are third party services, but the game itself still relies on id for the central server, and servers in general. When id shuts those servers down, you would have to create your own database/server, and you'd have to pay for the bandwidth to run it. Additionally, no client would be connecting to such a server without modification, so you would specifically need people to find/use your software. Of course, that's if id didn't shut you down first.

the leaderboards, the awards, qlranks, other sites providing population models. You just have to do a bit more research when using them to formulate accurate info, but it's possible and i have done it in the past.

we're not talking in comparison to q3. i was talking on ql. That europe has always had at least 10x the playerbase na had. almost exactly 10x. There was a bot idling in #quakelive called qlbot and it provided exactly that info. At any point in time, there were about 100-150 us players, while euros had anywhere from 1200-2500 depending on time of day. true story. Ask citty he remembers that bot.

I kind of refuse to think that the NA scene is unable to get a propper pickup channel going.. There are quite a few posts here with complains about asshole type of players and pickup channels where new/less experienced players would get flamed. Why don't the people in the US scene that are not morons try to organize something where being an asshole gets punished? The assholes might learn to behave over time. I bet you'd get a quakenet channel with 50+ players going. It would grow as time passes, just like the european channels #tdmpickup or #qlpickup.eu. Just give the control to the right people and try it. I bet the european channels would support this..

because then there'd be noone to play with. All those players you speak of, were in 2009-2010, the tier 3 playerbase (tier 2 now) which has been erradicated by the likes of morterforker, incubus and co.

just take a look at the quake live clan forum. i don't know if you remember or ever checked in the past 2 years, but it used to be that that forum would spam 1-2 days over 2 pages. Now, the first page of threads consists of posts made between 9-21 and today (9-28). That's 7 days worth. In other words, hardly any clans exists anymore. So any organized group of any kind, especially clans are becoming quite rare. Without a somewhat large group of people to kickstart this movement it won't happen.

I'm all for it, but having tried it myself in the past with those in pip and in conjunction with anhtv, there was just very little interest from the lower tiered (nicer) players to partake for the reasons i and many others have stated, that the tier 4 elites are all assholes. Also quakenet, for whatever reason has proven itself very unpopular. I don't know why either, but they continuously flock back to gamesurge, probably because the elites inhabit that medium and refuse to leave it. Again, refusal of the elites in na to compromise.

What is wrong with Gamesurge? That's been the American IRC network for every game for years. There's virtually no difference between Qnet and GS in functionality; you can do all the same shit on GS.

that but mainly the fact that they weren't paying attention to trends, playing along with the playerbase to take care of those trends. They always acted on things 3-6 months after something happened. I can understand their development team being small, but they didn't prioritize the most important pieces of the puzzle. Instead they tried to fool the new playerbase with 50 new cvars an update, cvars that already existed and just needed to be turned on or off (took 3 sec to type in). And maps, tthat noone plays on premium servers over making all maps free for everyone (so the playerbase wasn't split up). Next week update better deliver as promised or they're going to be paying a price with the people who stuck around for even the last 2 months giving them one last chance. Time will tell.... but time is running out for id.

i was just thinjking when they introduced the /ff command in an update. /forfeit or w/e

and i was like oh hell ya awsome. I got really excited about that. it made sense. we have been asking for the ability to /ff and now its here. now i don't have to stomach my whole team of 5 going 0-8 when we are losing 8-0 we can save 5 or 10 minutes off our life and just /ff and find another server or shuffle.

i assumed if my whole team tyupes /forfeit in console we can forfeit.
i assumed WRONG! hahaha i then found out the command means nothing. and its only for duelers to FF, i assume though who knows, or when there is only one person left on a team? like what? so it only works say your on a team of 5. 4 of your teamates ragequit. leaving you alone against 5 other guys. i guess maybe i can forfeit in that case at least? hahah

I've had a 24/7 pickup bot online for months now. If someone wants to organize a channel on QuakeNet, let me know and I will move the bot there and give that person all of the commands, etc. But I don't see anyone volunteering to do it any time soon. But if anyone is interested, let me know, I don't have the time to run the channel myself at the moment

i myself always shuttered away from quake at times because of the cfg issues.

at least with quakelive there was a centralized forum, and a couple mods helped me make my cfg or else i prolly wouldn't even be playing.

tks salamat, lorfa and yakumo for the help with my cfg. actually not only was salamat the one to get my cfg working for me. he also was the one to fix my crashing issues, and kept me in the game when my account got bugged numerous times (prolly hacked)

i've even been banned from the forums for posting his fixes.
