i don't agree that's all we can do. Syncerror violated his own TOA. He is letting someone harass new players. He's supposed to be the manager of quake live yet this is the example he sets.

More TDM and Duel balanced maps, CTF and CA classic maps like WCP9.
I think the Hitbox are too big maybe 15% smaller would be nice, today is arcade mode, anyone hits an average of 35-40% every game, this puts the strategy in a 2nd level, makes the games more fluid but less interesting in a tactical level.

I think the wargrounds map could be quite fun to try out in CA; as for canned heat...maybe 2v2 CA, but I don't think much of this map.

It's not really syncerrors fault. He's just a community-liaison lackey. He doesn't program, he doesn't produce... his entire employment is nothing but a testament to id's money-wasting capacity. Even if he does relay our ideas and concerns, id doesn't listen and to be frank, we shouldn't have to come up with these ideas anyway. If we're 10 steps ahead of id, and we're basically doing id's job for them, then id is a shit company. They should be leading the development process, but instead, they're wallowing in a pool of pus and bile. Even when we try to help them out, they refuse to accept our help (for whatever asinine reason they may have).

Maybe id is at the behest of zenimax or bethesda or whatever, but, that is a predicament id, yet again, can only blame on themselves.

It is very difficult to get players into decent PUG games of ctf/tdm when they need to download and install outside programs and set them up, or to feel any social satisfaction of teamplay in random pub games when compared to the standard games of.. yesterday. (a decade ago.).

Oh god, I hope they never add voice chat. Do we really need to hear the whining and spam as well as read it? To be honest, I don't see the point of voice chat in this game if people actually used their binds properly for alerting teammates, as opposed to engaging in utterly pointless and unfunny trolling.

Puritan, I like your metaphor but it's not quite complete it. It goes a little more this:

You live in an old building, but you have a nice apartment with your own furnishings. It's not perfect, but you're happy there. Everyone helps each other out around the building to keep it looking nice and to try and improve upon it.

Then one day, a landlord called SyncError shows up and tells you about this wonderful new building. It's just like your old building, but with a few modifications: the maintenance work will be handled by him exclusively, the apartments are already fully furnished, and it's rent free. In addition, he promises to improve upon it too as time passes.

Now obviously, you can't turn down this deal because it's a brand new building, all of the maintenance work is taken care of for you, and there is no upfront payment like you had with your current building. So you and everyone else sign an agreement and move to this new building. It's a nice place to begin with, and everyone seems optimistic about it. It's obviously not perfect either, but you can live with it knowing that you were promised improvements as time passed.

But then, your furniture starts to break after awhile. You call up SyncError to come fix the problem. He's very receptive to your problem and it's fixed quickly to your satisfaction. Now as time goes on, SyncError slowly becomes less and less receptive and responsive to your problems. The ceiling plaster is cracking, the walls need a new paintjob, the furniture is old, and the carpeting is worn. So you're, of course, getting upset because he promised all of these improvements and was suppose to perform all of the maintenance work too. The other tenants in the building are also starting to get upset too. However, you can't fix any of the problems yourself because it is prohibited in the agreement you signed.

Finally, you receive a letter one day from the landlord, SyncError, announcing that he's hired a secretary, Ordus, to answer your calls and make note of your problems. SyncError promises that this is a good move, because it means he can spend more time fixing everyone's problems rather than answering the phone all day. are the stats fixed again? yesterday evening, whilst getting owned 40-3, I was supposedly hitting 40% LG (which is almost double of my standard acc) =P

I've given up on trying to understand how they calculate accuracy of the individual weapons vs. combined. I can be hitting 30%+ accuracy with all of the weapons individually, but it calculates that my overall accuracy is somehow less than 30%. I just assume that it's some form of voodoo math these days; I can't be bothered to try and follow the nightmare of changes they've made to the algorithm to figure out how they're computing it now.

And good luck about getting it fixed. I'm still waiting for them to fix the win/loss ratio bug, the discrepancies in games played, won, lost, quit, and the missing games from the unnecessarily prolonged stats server switchover from awhile back.

Comparing these changelogs with the ones for ezQuake for example should make ID Software blush. Either they have something huge going on in the background which takes all resources and some student is doing the fixes at a minimal cost in the meanwhile, or they just don't care i guess.

put the ql project to an open source license and some ambitious hobby programmers will do a better job in 2 months than id did it in the last 2 years.

you have q3 for that.. and i rather prefer ql's centralized way cause that means more or less one community, then q3 way with 1000 minor communities with 50 players for each game mode.

this "one" community is divided alreayd as it is (premium, insta, pubs, pros, pickup guys, clannies, dweebies, nerdos, ok just kdiding on the last 2 lol)

Is it just me or does someone else know feels like having 70/80ms while playing at 40ms ???

I feel it mostly with rockets. Also I launched a pratice game to play at 0ms versus bots, and rockets feels different too. Hard to explain, but when I shoot, It's like they're going of right from the middle of the screen and with some kind of little "flash". It doesnt happens in online game with 40ms.

I noticed the exact same thing. I used to be quite comfortable with 50 ping, now after the update that is totally gone :(

now that i played a bit more of quake for a while i just found out that the frigging stair rocket bug still exists? I mean what the fuck, ITS NOT RARE THAT IT MAKES U EVEN LOSE A GAME... Its most annoying in ztn @ mega and lg area where that tiny fucking stance is making you miss 50% of ur rockets cuz of the bug.. and this is old shit, bug has been in game for like 2 years now.

Though most hilarious in this bug is how it came to being. First noctis whined about how it was retarted that you could be in advantage in dm6 ra when spamming rockets from below instead of from above. That of course was cuz rocket splash pierced walls at that time and because dm6 bridge was modiflied so that there was this add banner and only tiny piece of concrete in the ra edge of the bridge...

What SyncError and his friends concluded in order to resolve this issue was following: "hey, lets make walls block rocket dmg!!!1 it will be aw3s0m3!!11" well, I wouldnt have mind a bit about it, but the fact that after that we have been struggling 2 years with that shitty bug I start to feel like it would have been just a fuckton easier to modifly dm6 instead....

Coming to think of it, the whine over every change in cpma was probably as bad the whine for ql. Cpma also didn't get all of its features overnight (several years iirc), and it was building on osp.

So relative to that ql isn't as incredibly bad as its being made out to be. There is still a scene, there are still tournaments, there is still a decent player base.

The only big mistake that I think id have made is not creating a lan client for premium/pro users. Even if it still required an internet connection to run (download the latest adverts and upload match data etc) that wouldn't be a problem. It would also enable players to use custom maps and even create mods for it.

The inability of users of the game to assist the game and the community is the biggest problem; if id made a legit lan client most of these issues could be resolved.

CPMA was done without pay, and has been around for many years. The least they could do was learn from the past.

With paid professional developers, there's no reason for QL to be inferior to CPMA. It should have far surpassed CPMA, even before it left closed beta.

I get the impression they didn't fix the spectator scoreboard bug in duel. If this is the case then that is just fucking lazy. I am sick of that bug glaring me in the face as a reminder, a microcosm of the whole attitude towards 'fixing' the apparently simple bugs in this game.

Now I'm not sure if they have fixed it or not but I think I'm safe to assume they didn't. I'm not that cut up about it because it's not a big deal but on principle, paying customers at least deserve to have UI bugs addressed.

Ah thanks, I see it now. Well it's nice of them to respond to a complaint by actually fixing the bug, however late. I suppose a lot of developers wouldn't have even attempted to fix a bug like that, let alone succeeded.
