GameType Revolution Mod Coming May 6 (63 comments)

In just a couple days, the GameType Revolution mod team will be releasing the product of several years of hard work and dedication. The .70 build is the first version of the GTR mod of the Quake 4 1.4.2 patch and includes some new features never seen in a Quake 4 mod. Until then, check out the website for the changelog, screenshots of new maps and features, wiki of information about the mod itself and information on the bot-based pickup channel on IRC.

On day 1, we will have several servers across both North America and Europe, but we are giving the mod out early to those interested in running an online GTR server. Please PM zhakal or myself in the #GT-Revolution channel if you are interested.

Q43A never failed, i make you all cry, you all do your middleclass thing, and dont bother trying it

its never really been about anything to have failed, it just fixes everything in the sdk and add aload of stuff and can be used for any kind of game server you want +a custom damage set

yo! im excited about this mod cant wait to try it out. im Sata Co leader of clan [kaotiQ], Doomtrain and i promoting this mod to our buds so we can all enjoy this mod that was developed for the die hard quake fans. im confident that this mod will bring back quake 4 players for an improved gaming experiance.

if it aint a mini mod, then you need the drivers that comes with the mod

can recode most of hte SDK that builds into the driver, for some asshole to delete the driver and use another

and make it warzone, with a de saturation of all ambient

Q43A doesnt need ideas, it harvests them over the years, i just keep adding shit to it to make jokez on all of you, and all teh shit others need the engine todo

only brink and rage can compete with Q43A liquid/water code and lipsynced voicetaunts, full custom mp player models, and so on, and the 128 player limit

"Harvesting" presupposes the ideas are already "there". However I believe that while CPM is a good mix between fun and "challenging" gameplay that GTR can find new ideas that have yet to seen in any other quake game that can continue to push Quake as superior "fast" FPS franchise.

lolo, you bring up a good point; we need to be pushing the game further and further. I think this is one of my biggest problems with QL. That they just creatively gave up and went back to something that was a success a decade ago. Honestly, the only interesting part of QL is their "devpick" servers; they may be cheesy sometimes but at least they're trying new things. I think deathmatch is losing its popularity because it's not doing anything new. It's not pushing players to learn and try new things. "Mainstream" competitive Quake looks just the same as it did in 2002. Visually and competitively, DM games need a refresh desperately.

Q43A is in its own world and gameplay style, its look like Q4, feels like Q3, 40% UT2k4

the engine ever gets GPL`d all those who play QL, will be playing Q43A, with its bling renderer and new entity "netcode"

you want a patch, all projectiles use jump/accel pads, even old defunkt hitscan weapons like MG/RG

LG/GL projectiles will not go off in the jump/accell pad push direction, all other will if you shoot at the pads trigger

if you want teleporting projectiles, i will be gangsta and add teleport mass and teleport any entity that has a greater mass then that set in the entities key

after i have cleaned up existing water code, and redone some parts of player push code so you can push movables on dedicated servers without getting some big lag of physics

Hey wassup 9, I can't wait to test this mod out. I'm pretty interested on the speed of the game, faster weapon switching, air control, create your own mode, 1 flag CTF, RTF and custom colored skins. I haven't seen a final change log list for your mod yet, but I'm sure there is quiet a bit changed.

I should be on Xfire for a couple hours maybe 3. I seen you logged into your guys IRC channel, but I was AFK.

pow3r has said he'll do a new trailer for GTR if he gets a script, what features to showcase and some demos from the community ;), we better going on that soon.

We're still hard at work getting everything prepared. For anyone interested in running a GTR server, head over you Maverick Servers or #maverickservers on Quakenet. He's been hosting out dev servers for a while now, and the server performance is amazing. We are going to continue to use him for our dev and pickup servers. Maverick knows the ins and outs of our configs and setup and is always around for questions. He will be the first person outside of the dev team to get the build.

wouldnt piss me off, i couldnt care fuckall, i only have a cellphone connection, so i couldnt care what game is alive or dead online, and i will only have a cellphone 3g connection until whenever i can be bothered to move house into a cable area

it will piss you all off when you find out GTR is bullshit, and Q43A is 60+ % sdk recoded and does it all and better, on its path to fixing all the vanilla bugs and glitches and adding all the new features and so on

you all be playing the same shit dead maps in the same scripted map order all night long, GTR dont even have random map cycle

I don't disrespect you work, nor do I have anything against you, but the way you act sometimes is just way way out there. This is not how one should act when it comes to doing something good for a community.

If you want something done properly then share your work, contribute with actual stuff that people need and want, communicate in a proper way and get that thing you have in your ass out. you mod and other mods, have the teams/beta testers/suckass in general,

they are the same as SP vehicles, shit, militia is renamed to Q43A, Q43A is just quake 4 gameplay mod and has no new maps, models or weapons

its Q4 how it should have been on release in the shops, Q43A will change nothing much, but the color of the menu, and run on new driver code and add some features and water physics

Actually, I've had both my 12 slots servers filled most of the night. I've actually been pretty surprised at the number of people downloading and playing tonight. Everyone's had a great time and people really seem to like the mod. Release day started out a little awkward, but withe Maverick's help, got my servers up and running and people playing.

Nice makes me want to buy a gfx card (my gfx card keeps dying & dying) and stop playing bw (one of the only good games you can play without a gfx card ^^) .
