Hey

I think the new Hitboxes, wich are 10% bigger, are shit! What the hell?! Now it's more easier to hit the enemy without skill and everything.

For example, the MH floor on ZTN is really no fun anymore if your enemy got a good rox. You just can't do anything just by this bigger hitboxes...
You don't need to hit him like before this patch, just shoot in his direction and you hit!

This isn't easier for noobs!

Also why the hell their giving us a old Q3 map as Premium Map?! Toxicity is just known as Puka from Q3 and it wasn't a lovely map in Q3. I dont wanna pay for old crap maps! I want a whole NEW Map pool for QL!

QL is just bad now :(

Increased hitbox size only affects direct hit rockets. Rocket splash damage, going back to even Quake 1 in 1996, calculate rocket splash based off of distance to the origin point. If we were to change this now, you would very dramatically alter the feel of rockets and the game itself.

That quote is not entirely true.

The *direction* of the knockback due to splash damage is indeed computed using the the origin of the player and the position of the rocket impact.

However the *amount* of splash damage applied (and therefore the strength of knockback) is computed using the distance from the rocket impact to the *edge* of the hitbox.

Refer to G_RadiusDamage in g_combat.c.

And to think that some newbtards I was playing with actually wanted faster rockets as well, and everyone ended up agreeing. You guys do realize that these changes occur because of your feedback, right?

Better yet, why isn't the entire game more resemblant of CPMA VQ3 settings? That game was extremely balanced for just about every gametype, and yet, instead, we go around experimenting with shit that was never broken in the first place (and by first place, I mean CPMA VQ3 and OSP) because newbs can't handle players with genuine skills.

There was no change to the rocket splash damage, the splashdamage isn't influenced by hitboxes. all you're experiancing is placebo.

ok, to be precise the splash damage technically is influenced by the hitboxes but the change as small as it was should not have made a notable difference (if any at all).

dunno why u got plussed so much, you actually didnt think of anything. with bigger hitboxes of course its easier to hit rockets.. and rockets were already OP due to the splash radius, which is just emphasised a little more now. so hopefully everyone will see what ive been saying since beta that rocket splash radius is too big in QL.

Longer reload time on Rockets should be enough, imo. That trumps altering splash damage and slowing them as a way to re-balance the weapons.

good. rockets aren't supposed to trump LG in close range anyway. They're for spamming and prediction shots when you don't want to leave yourself susceptible to hitscan. If you are next to each other sg and lg should be your first pick, with RL as it is now, it's the ideal weapon in almost any situation.

Why would you want this? With a rl like that you could only go offensive with a lg in your hand. If you only got a rl all you can do is back away and spam a lot. Less options for aggressive play, more +bw spam.. sounds like an excellent idea.
Everyone should wait for DH to find out if we actually need huge changes like yours.

if you're waiting in a doorway right now and there's rocket spam you are simply locked down. you're not going anywhere if you're playing someone that knows how to use rockets. at least with an increased reload time if you're hauling ass and time it right you can get through a doorway. Your assumption that it would be even MORE +back is because due to how it's been so far, you can't even imagine a scenario that rockets wouldn't be the best option.

To avoid being lg-raped good players would play very defensively. Railcamp, rocket spam, running away; thats what to do against a weapon that dominates mid and even close range battles (in your scenario).

I'm not trying to turn it into the end of q3 cpma style LG dominance, but right now if you only have an RL you're just fine on pretty much any map. Moreso than in QW at this point.

It depends because know you can do sick dmg with lg even in close range vs rockets. Played some overly aggressive matches since the update (vs nukm :P) and if your opponent doesn't have a big stack u just fucking melt him with 40lg if his initial rocket was bad.
I don't know whether this is possible on a pro level but right know the update feels somehow good to me though I was against the updated hitboxes. We'll have to see how pros cope with it and whether we see pushier games. I expect stermy and k1llsen to do fine with theirspot on lg :D

yeah, bear in mind, when I first thought up this rocket nerfing fix it was before this latest update with the increased hitbox size, so that does skew things a good bit.

I don't think the is anything wrong with the splash radius or rl speed as it is.

I would just decrease the rl knock back strength; after a few games of CA with them, I've found that, when on the RA platform of dm6, with a good rl hit one can knock an enemy from the RA platform right up onto the bridge rather regularly :S

I would just decrease the rl knockback slightly, and then it would be perfect imo :)
