They are pretty much the best CRT ever made :)

I think that price is a bit high, but if it is mint then it may be worth it... I would msg him and try and get a discount.
Failing that just keep an eye on ebay, they do come up fairly often.

Then again the 120hz lcds are pretty good I think, in the end they don't perform as well as the sony fw-900 in a lot of areas, but they are lighter and smaller.

damn, i'd hate lugging that monitor to a lan. i miss my iiyama i had. for a 19" monitor, the iiyama Vision Master Pro 454 was insane with the refresh rates it would do even at high resolutions, but the damn things were prone to break (went through 3 replacements). i'd worry about any crt now that is years old.. and the crts that you can still find new are shit compared to the those from years ago

I can recommend LG2363D, Its awesome, 0 input lag due to THRU Mode, really great image quality and 120 hz refresh rate. Also supports blueray 3d and other 3d, like my samsung 2233rz did Not :(

If this monitor blows up for some reason, I will buy it again, no doubt.

Nah, I havent. But tests and ppl who got em seems to be saticfied with it.

Which might explain that other post here a few days ago where a guy was complaining about this monitor... There are actually 60hz monitors out there that will exhibit less ghosting.

you should read that thread as a whole, not a single comment by one user. the one you quote claims we should be playing on those '0ms 60hz lcds', yea right...

What he meant is that there are 60hz monitors with less ghosting than the BENQ 120hz one, which is true since ghosting and refresh rates are different things (and input lag is even another one).

i have the benq sitting in front of me and i do not experience any visible ghosting in 120hz mode, quite a bit in 60hz. it's much better than any of the earlier tfts i played around with (in a shop).

like someone said there... "this is a case of theory vs. praxis". for fps atleast the new 120hz tfts are so much better than the 60/75hz ones it's hard to take anyone serious who's claiming otherwise.

And yes of course 120fps vs 60fps is a huge difference, I'm just pointing out that the BenQ has more blur that the other 120hz panels (and more than some 60hz ones). But yes it's still far smoother than a 60hz monitor (the motion blur might even increase that "smooth" feeling for some people).

Which explains why some people like Vo0 say they prefer the samsung 2233rz because it's much closer to a CRT.

what "motion blur" are you talking about exactly?

ghosting/trailing/blur/motion blur or w/e, I'm talking about the pixel response time (some people call that "pixel lag" too) and not everyone has the same sensitivity to it.

with overdrive turned off i do not experience ghosting or trailing in quake, if that is what you mean with "blur".

yeah, maybe i'm just not "sensitive" to lag in fast paced games, i would claim otherwise but this is leading to nowhere fast :p

again, you have various displays at home and know what you are talking about because you have first hand experience... right?!

Everything was explained in the review I linked, they called the issue 'overshoot' .
That's what cumbucket was experiencing when he made that thread about it not long ago.
Maybe you're just not doing billions of flick shots with a low sens or something and so your playstyle doesn't lead you to notice it.

Anyway, I'm not trying to convince you to replace your monitor or anything, I'm myself getting a monitor that will actually have some trailing because it doesn't bother me that much and I'm not gaming enough anymore to care about it. I'm just warning the people who are thinking about buying this monitor for hardcore gaming.

i heavily disagree with their preference of turning ama (overdrive) on and literally have no idea how they could end up with that conclusion. a semi-blind man after a minute or two of quake would probably disagree with them...

Of course one of the main reasons for wanting this 120Hz support is that the screen can then give you a higher frame rate of 120 frames per second (fps) as opposed to the 60fps when using 60Hz. Any serious gamer will tell you that frame rates are very important for fast action and so here's a screen which can support double the frame rate of most LCD panels.

It's not a wonderful review I agree but there are pictures comparing the BenQ to other monitors which show I'm talking about. (the 'display comparison' chapter)

I don't like his wording and had to read his sentences a few times tbh but the thing is AMA creates some kind of artefacts like it often does on LCDs, (and apparently you do notice them) while without it, the pixel response time is equivalent to that of a 5ms TN panel (most LCDs out there, including laptop displays are like that), which isn't great. (the "120 hz support' chapter)

Edit : also I'm not talking about input lag because I believe that very few test setups are accurate plus it seems random (if you buy the same LCD twice, you won't get exactly the same colours nor the same performance because the manufacturing process is complicated and it's a very flawed technology)

HI. i am looking to buy ~2007 build LG 2ms lcd, it will have input lag yes? So 2 ms doesnt mean much, I will feel a big ghosting? (I know 75 hz sux, but hz and ghosting is different).

2 ms is just fine. the 2233rz has 3-5ms inplut lag and it was barely noticable, if that. Beside from that 75hz its probebly a ok monitor I guess.

The ghosting part, I dont know. At start I thought that ghosting came from high input lag, but some says it is depending on the hardware in the monitor. I would google it and see what ppl that owns that particular monitor says about it, if I were you.

2ms is grey to grey I guess.. still its 3-5 in game. 75hz sux, but its ok. but as I understood, some moninors (most lcd's) have big input lag :/ (maybe I am wrong).

The 2ms/5ms you can see in the specs is the response time of the pixels, and is what will determine whether there's gonna be "ghosting" or not. To give you a rough idea, 5ms+ is fairly blurry while 2ms should be decent (applies to TN panels only). Most manufacturers are lying cunt so always check out reviews on the web.

It has nothing to do with input lag at all (manufacturer never talk about it and try to pretend it's not there), again you must check some reviews online to make sure it's not there (or that it's low enough).

You could very well have 120hz and a high input lag, and vice versa.

I have samsung t220 (2ms) and tbh ghosting isn't that bad, but it's there compared to my 2233rz.
