I do find it pretty damm hard compared to what im used to on different games.

I don't even play CS:S (I actually play CS1.6) and without any experience on how to play the damn game, how to control the gun's recoils or whatever, I jumped on a DM server with the shitty default config (seriously, it's so bright my eyes wanted to cry) just to see how I would fair.

Saying that, what the fuck? CS:S deathmatch is just about the easiest shit I've ever played. Maybe it was the server I was playing, or maybe all CS:S players are just retarded, but the game couldn't be any easier if you gave all the players an aimbot... I demo'd it just for shits n giggles.

I will add, the game is shit. Not really the most groundbreaking piece of news in the world, but still. Even if I was playing with a fucked router, it's hit-reg is worse then QuakeLive (and that's saying something). You can aim at someone's balls and get a headshot if you're lucky (and that's not spraying), and on the opposite spectrum you can shoot bang on someone's head or quickscope them perfectly and it won't register (lol). That's not to mention the painfully slow reload time and the movement which is about as slow and sluggish as old people fucking. Truth of the matter is - it's a game made for people that can't walk and chew gum

Just not really a fan of any source games for FPS multiplayer expect TF2. Used to play CS:S when it first came out on those stupid breakfloor maps just for the novelty but the sludgy feeling of movement just put me off after a while. Too used to the sharp movement of 1.6 :[

In ye olde days before XboxLive fags, there was a time when all gamers played together in perfect harmony. People considered better players simply better and they learnt to adapt by either getting better or finding ways around it.

Since then, in an attempt to pander to the breed of 90s kid, tiers were introduced to stop them getting owned by better players because they're ulow consolelolfagz that think everyone is haxing just because they're better then them.

HOWEVER, upon inventing tiers, little did the scientists and mathematicians behind The Great Tier System realize that people could just make new accounts (known as alias' or 'newb accounts') and could pretend to be low skilled by loosing to Crash 153 : -2 (or recently, just putting 'Beginner' difficulty at the start screen of QuakeLive's new account), jumping into a low skill tier server, strafe jumping around the server stacking up on MH's, RA's and every quad that spawns, raping everyone in sight whilst occasionally typing "LOLUMADBRO?". This is done until they get bored of the owning tedium and leave the other lowly peasants to awkwardly walk around DM6 spamming grenade launchers.

I think that's only possible if you get the achievement "HullotharImfromXboxlive" - another system the creators of The Great Tier system made which encourages players to keep playing with meaningless achievements occasionally coupled with a reward such as a new weapon, coloured hats or a DLC badge that only you can see

I would agree that this is a bit excessive, maybe even pointless what the OP did. Though I think the whole tier and matchmaking system is as well. I'd much rather see static servers with unique names so players know which server(s) pros or higher level players play on and which ones less skilled players are on.

On the other hand, if you are going to setup a system and insist on using it, and having guidelines or rules regarding it's usage. Then you should make sure you have the ability to enforce it, for everyone.

You need to disconnect yourself from INCubus. It will only hurt you.

Yeah so many do it can't single out incubus, it's just that incubus is not even subtle about what he does. So he definitely asks for it, especially when he is a king at talking shit on the servers to the people he is stacked up against.

Having tons of accounts does fuck up the game and skews it on many levels, id needs to find a way to work around that.

Should be pretty easy to figure out he's saying this guy (who is now a ql forum mod) is unfairly privledged by id apart from the rest of ql's userbase because of his multiple account's. That and his 'tier slumming' (according to OP) 'sets a bad example' for what QL shouldn't be. I do agree that tier-slumming is bad for QL and can shun away user's from the game who feel like they don't have a chance but that's really QL's fault for not creating a better match-making system with more controls over where people can play. Or atleast inform people in some quick way about unranked servers which will have skilled players on them, then other ffa servers that will be restricted to less skilled players only.

Once - because of curiosity - I joined a US CTF server (where I had about 150 ping with some nasty spikes btw). The other players changed map to ctf4 (!) and pressed f3 forcing me into a game.
My team quickly left (except one), and since I never quit, I found myself (almost) alone against this guy and some other players.

Anybody who plays Quakelive knows that no human have any kind of chance against a good player with 150 ping (even if he was pretty far from being a pro). Besides some lucky shoot, with fluxing 150ms, you are dead before you spawn, and I'm sure he knew that it's gonna be a rape right after the first few seconds. I was asking for "maybe 1 over:)" several times but he just quickly capped 7. After that he got my flag and went up to the pad above the base and he was railcamping there for more then 15 minutes (!) before capping to make it 8:0.

i dont even play QL anymore. i just despise what iD is doing with it, and this is a MAJOR problem. everyone knows its not just INCubus, but he is the most well known (aside from maybe q_adrian). there are things to do to stop tier slumming, and ways to avoid it, but sync avoids them intentionally so his good friends can destroy his game.

True enough the post should be about tierslumming and a better alias system rather than singling someone out by name on a forum.

Having a system where someone can use a cvar as an alias that wont be ranked and having the official name ranked, and the alias serve as an offline mode would be nice.

Pretty common sense though people generally want to win so they will generally pick a game they can win.

tier slummers generally drive noobs away. ive personally made at least a dozen new players quit, before they even played 10 games. that was with an alternate account (that has about 10 games played). INCubus has over 3500 games played, mostly against noobs. Imagine how many have quit because of him.

Sync knows (or should know, because its pretty fucking obvious) that INCubus is driving people away from the game, which loses iD/QL/whatever a lot of potential money. He is destroying his own game indirectly, and quickly, by not handling tier slummers.

My point in the previous post was that there are still people willing to play vs him, since in those matches that I have been with him I haven't seen anyone vote kick him. Meanwhile, when jones would play FFA, after one match someone very often calls vote kick jones. Well maybe because INC isn't that kind of person that could be just vote kicked off the server, idk . . .

from what ive gathered, he thinks that all the mods arent worthy of mod-ship because theyre all retarded/assholes in some way. yakumo and INC are the least worthy in his opinion (and mine too, kinda), because yakumo is an ass-kisser and cost ray his chance at becoming a mod. ray can be a pretty cool guy. and him disliking INCubus and yakumo isnt just some little disagreement. he thinks that they arent worthy of being mods. I agree, and think that most of the mods are a little biased (and a couple of them are really biased). A while ago I thought Ray would be a great mod, because I was on his good side. Then I said a couple tiny little things (jokes, really) and he went apeshit and hates me now (i assume, from what he said to me; could have just been a little misplaced venting. who knows). And if he was a forum mod i would get banned for nothing, even more than I do now.

INCubus is the least worthy of any respect or power. He abuses it like nobody ive seen in QL. He abuses his friendship with sync and can make as many aliases as he wants, and tier slum as much as he wants. How can you give someone with the worst attitude towards this game, power over other people? and special privileges? it makes no sense.

Yakumo is just a kiss ass and hates people who actually do work (me, ray, boxxy etc. etc.) on the forums. I dont like him cuz of personal stuff though. he has a couple good guides, which help a lot, but is pretty biased about everything he does.

The thing is that Yakumo gives TONS of feedback to the developers. You guys have no idea really, I mean **boatloads**. He play tests every square cm of the game and gives in depth reports.

He must be solely responsible for like 20% of all user feedback. He was also on the forum constantly and made those guides as you know. Id should probably send him some cash for his services.

So when they were looking for moderators, Yakumo was a no-brainer.

Most of the ppl I know, and most of the responses I read on different forums / chat on the Internet (like about 70-80 percent), says that QL is going in a wrong direction in many aspects., and as an online game: its not growing from Q3 but shrinking.
There must be a endless source of positive feedback, because they just keep going for years after years ignoring all what we say or ask for.

I don't believe there is some stream of positive feedback anywhere, as positive feedback in general is always more rare than negative/critical feedback.

there are thousands of good suggestions in the suggestions forum, and thousands of terrible suggestions. as i said, if iD cared at all about this game and teh community, they would take the effort to sort through it all and make some attempt at getting in touch with the community and telling them the kind of suggestions they like to hear or whatever. but they dont, and instead neglect the suggestions forum, and go about ruining the game.

sync takes the time to post in completely useless threads, and answer questions on ESR(!!!), yet he cant make a decent response to a decent suggestion/request, no matter how much people beg for one. that kind of attitude, and the attitude towards tier slumming/whatnot, is whats killing QL.

the tier system doesn't work when the amount of active players in a given game type (outside of 1v1) can barely fill a server or two.

Yeah taunting people about being scared to play, looking at the game browser you can always know incubus is on the team of the stack always or his famous 2 v 1 bit, incubus is just as scared to play as the people he accuses of being scared. I would take a shot in the dark, as well as incubus wearing a different tag every week, he probably assumed that 403 did not have a chance at winning so the reason being that simple. Like his public gameplay, he always has to be on the team that has the top players because he needs to make sure he can keep up his phony stats so he can talk shit. I used to play here at work with 6 other developers. I got talking to a mod (about INCublasphemy, oddly enough) and I just straight up asked him if there was a way to check. He said yeah of course we can. He then proceeded to tell me that I had 7 accounts and listed their names (I don't have 7 for anyone raging right now).

Long story short -- they know. They just choose to do absolutely nothing about it. Everyone knows INC is a personal friend to some of the right people and that's just the way it's going to be. Kinda sad that it came to that but until he gets tired of his ego-fueled reign of tier-slumming carnage, everyone just has to deal. When they started charging people to play it actually got better in a way in that you can find a pub without him in it every once in a while.

If you post or I believe even log into the forums from each account (not at the same time obviously), of course it'd be easy for them to know. As far as I know, mods don't have access to anything regarding the actual game page. Unless the forum logs names/ips of people that logon to only the game.

i remember leading up to summer 2009 how incubus and his friend lollercopter used to team up against others on space ctf and call noobs names. One very annoying thing both of them do is at start of game, they'll continuously press the ready button till everyone presses it. They used to trashtalk a lot but incubus stopped once he became a mod. The old school players know incubus for what he really is, a loser with no life whose only claim to fame is his padded stats. I personally put him right up there with gragor and q_adrian, 2 other losers who care more about stats than good gameplay. Incubus is pretty bad though 1v1. He's ok with rockets and he's a great camper, but vs lg he's garbage.

There is a reason everyone on U.S servers flocked to CA. Incubus, lollercopter and av8r tormented that playerbase since early july 2008 already. Check all 3 of their join dates. All 3 got special invites from Syncerror and all 3 were given special priveleges and all 3 went on to abuse the system (av8r focused on n1gger binds). And just look at the result. Europe doesn't have these problems and we can't blame the playerbase for it because it was packed after ql went out of closed beta. Clan EQ's mission was destroying noobs. All of these guys are at the top of the CTF ladder (if there was one) and all of them were found in those lower skilled games for that first half year. The only one who continues abusing the system was Incubus aka inc_ aka incubeast aka power aka ted_, etc etc. Jones, blatrix, Andycreep got balls and started playing solely in pickups and high tier games in late 2010.

Then there was clan LQ. Again another clan comprised mostly of people once again invited by Syncerror in july 2008. Avenged was/is the 2nd worst stacker in quakelive history ,

If you were playing in 2009 on US servers you'll remember those days. It was hell on earth for anyone who hadn't picked up q3 and the devs, EQ reguarly played with .403 during those days(especially av8r and incubus)(you can see incubus playing with his .403 tag in the videolink above). And Syncerror DID NOTHING. Now they're (the devs) trying to fix the problem they were a part of. They gave these guys the right to have more than 2 accounts and enabled the stacking/tierslumming by not cracking down on it.

...and really that's just a small portion of the abuse that went on during those days. There are so many other people involved, from gamescasters to leagues, etc. a soap opera would look mute in comparison. But its' starting to crumble and you'll start hearing more stories like this and what really goes on behind the scenes.

i dont play or like ctf so this isnt a big deal for me, but it is reasonable, just not a good enough excuse to waste your life trying to "ensure justice is dealt" while knowing full well youre achieving nothing, and nothing will come of it.

one thing i want to make clear, though: anyone can have as many accounts as they want. only people who make alternate accounts to escape a ban have their alts banned. i have no doubt that youve made alts, and so have i, and so have thousands of other players. i have about 10 accounts. i know people with 30+. none of them every got banned, except me, and i was banned/unbanned with no explanation.

The first match you linked that I played in (bullet #2) was a Tier 4 Premium CTF server, I was the first player in the server to join. I regularly jump into Skill Matched (Tier 4) Premium CTF servers on Stonekeep and just wait for people to join in, to give them an opportunity to earn my Premium Award.

The last screenshot was the first server online hosting that week's DevPick (the Drop Damaged Health DevPick). I'm sure both myself and Gillz have demos if you're interested. :) DevPicks aren't skill restricted, and again I was one of the first to join the server... since what we were doing was testing our newly launched DevPicks.

tierslumming isn't really the issue in quakelive, it's the ability to create tons of new accounts that really messes stuff up.

As stated before the ESR admins need to filter out postings, posts naming specific individuals despite some truth in stack joiners shouldn't be allowed, and advent-type bs posts talking crazy about Japan and nuclear issue and some how idiotic idea to piss people off--those posts need to be filtered out. People want to win and despite the fact incubus will always join the team the winners are, he is not the only one.

I guess I can only explain db_copper's stats, since I kind of have a similar issues with him. For FFA I'm a tier 4 now with about 2000 games played and only 5% of them are wins.
And that's because when I first started playing all I played was FFA and was a total noob who couldnt even strafe. That's why there are only 5% wins for my FFA games. But now I'm FFA tier 4, which is more or less skill matched for me. So I dont have a problem with it now.

yeah this makes sense, because if your tier was judged by your overall stats then you would be stuck in the same tier forever, after enough games... would take hundreds of straight losses to go down, or hundreds of straight wins to go up.

i wasn't trying to hide the fact... i want people to look at Ssurfer's stats. The 20 game supposed skill level system is only true for new members (it doesn't apply to older accounts prior to the update), something id tends to leave out of their update changelogs, if you can even call them changelogs... (with how vague they are and with the # of ommissions are excluded). That is the reason why SSurfer's skill is still wrong and why their claim that skillmatching in ffa, etc is fixed is also wrong.

if you only knew how good this game could have been had you, incubus and co. not scared off so many new players at a time when the game could have grown immensely. But in the end you'll just blame it on the noobs instead of taking personal responsibility for your actions and so long sync gets his next contract, he won't care and move on to rinse/repeat. If good players only played people who were in their "tier" they would only play pickups/tourneys.... and well that means they would play about 2 games a month.

they can find games in tier 3, no need to dwell tier 2 games. or you trying to tell me they can't find any tier 3 games either? in reality, tier 4 consists of the largest group of players.

I will give you some slack though, the largest issue regarding ctf especially consist of:

1. new ql players start in tier 3 ctf
2. moving up and down tiers is based on wins/losses rather then skill.
3. games can start uneven (4 vs 2 for ex..) unlike ca (makes stacking easy to do)
4. tier 4 players can still play 2 down in ctf. (recently saw alac, blatrix, etc to name a few in tier 2 games)
5. ctf maps are fairly large causing isolation of noobs (no help from teammates)

there's so many other issues in ctf that we can mention, but until id fixes them more of the same will ensue.

...but back to you, you're no different (stacker), you just have a consience every once in a while. Incubus on the other hand does it every single game, without exception. That's the difference here. That's why incubus is on a seperate echelon with guys like gragor, q_adrian, avenged, and lollercopter. They have no conscience. And they don't care. You on the other hand, i've played with you and you will switch once in a while, but please, don't act as if you haven't stacked teams before (w/ savior when you guys were friends in focal point) because iv'e seen plenty of it.

Now if you want to continue debating this with me, try to do it with some real facts. There's a reason ql is where it is (see link), and the failed skillmatching system is one of those reasons.

Guys like incubus are enabled to slum because they can. Take that away from them and "they would only play about 2 games a month" as you said, albeit a drastic comparison but i get your point to a degree, but don't agree with it entirely because so many players are lumped in tier 4 ctf these days (just browse some profiles on ql of players you know used to belong in tier 3 (in the 5 tier system from last year) and you'll notice they are now in tier 3). Tier 4 games are actualy more commonplace than tier 3 games on us ctf servers (that used to be the opposite last year as you remember)

9 out of 10 NA ctf games end in 8-0 or 8-1. That has to change or more and more players will continue flocking to CA leaving no other chance for team based competitions (since NA tdm is dead). (Europeans are lucky to be mostly devoid of all these problems, although not entirely).

incubus has a habit of following people around. I never said i have a problem playing good players. There's a difference between playign someone like jones who will ensure teams are even (the new jones, old jones didn't care), and playing someone like avenged, yourself, weirdwolf, tucker_, etc, etc who just care about stats and stack teams.

No need to make up an argument, when the simple issue here pertains to new players being pitted against top players over and over again, especially ones named incubus who have no sportsmanship skills whatsoever when in reality, they should be allowed to build up their skills before taking on some of the most prolific names on quake live.

I understand the 20 game skillmatching system, but again it only pertains to new accounts, so older active players who have played 100's of games are continously stuck in tier 4 with no refuge other than starting a new account, which does nothing from stopping the same cycle from repeating itself, especially since they aren't even safe in tier 2... So they leave CTF as a gamemode all together, and then you have what we have today, a lack of ctf players, especially in north america, where tierslummers are more rampant then anywhere else; i could name one who created an account this past week (phuc_nguyen) to do just that; slum and nothing else...

Again, simple concept; id enables tierslummers by negating the obvious issues in ctf and/or taking 3 years to fix them... (it's been 2 so far, but not one fix for this gametype has been adressed, while tdm has at least had some weapons balancing fixes and what not.

And no, INC can't join and play in Tier 2, that's simply impossible.
And broken/dead CTF is the fault of new players, who have no clue what's going on, and skill rating system that sticks them in Tier 3. And yes, broken skill rating is just horrilbe and should be fixed. But blaming a good player for "abusing" it? Oh please . . .

I had a convo earlier with someone today that really puts all of this into perspective, and something kitten has brought up before. You can easily attain a 100 sv skillrating in space ctf (ask gpig, seanage,etc) by playing that gamemode and railwhoring your way to victory a half dozen or so times (especially before the map was changed). That 100 sv skillrating is then applied to all other maps. But in reality some players can't play anywhere near a tier 4 level if their life depended on it, on non-space (non-space ctf) maps.

Take mellowtab for example, he's always a good example being that he's the poster boy for tier 3 ctf. Put him in space ctf and he'll manage to frag a couple people here and there; put him on courtyard conundrum and he'll end up going 0-27. Thats' part of the problem here, the skillrating system does not take into account one's personal skill level based on map type.

Oh and as far as why you are seeing more asian players; japanese servers are down right now. hf?

Blizzard is a step ahead of id in regards to making people register their accounts via email/txt msg's. I know that Ray will email me and flame me for this. But I really do think that it's not tierslummers who ruined the game.
For example, the reason that TDM is pretty much dead. (And even though I dont play CTF as much as I play CA, the reasons are similar) So, a tier 4 TDM game, (I can't never see tier 5 TDM for me, so can only join tier 4) I join and see: 1 noob vs 1 noob. So I join one of them. Then another noob connects. And when I say noob, mean those guys just started; they can't strafe, dont know the map, don't even have their weapons binded (scroll through them), and I'm not even talking about timing items, that's totally out of the question. 2v2. We start the game. My noobie falls into lava/void/acid/etc, runs around with gaunt and trips over all nades, meaning his and the other team's too. Other team does the same. I the only one who knows what is going on, so in about 5 minutes lets say I get 15-20 frags and 0 death. So me and my noobie lead. And of course about that time one of the noobs starts crying on the opposite team and quits. In like a minute joins some other player about my skill or (how it is often happens) better. Rapes my poor noobie and frags me a couple of times. I lose map control, since I'm not that great, and as a result in like 7-10? minutes he and his noobie leads. Then my noobie cries and disconnects. And so I'll lose if I'm by myself vs them two, or might win if someone decent joins my team in the last like 5 minutes.
And now who's fault is it? Mine, for playing in Tier 4 TDM when I'm tier 5? Or a guy's who's better then me and also can't find a skill matched TDM just like me and has to join tier down? Or is it the noobs' fault who got a QL account like from 1 day to 1 year ago, have play-time of like 5 hours total, and stick their nose where they are not supposed to be?
And in my humble opinion, I think it's just ridiculous to blame a higher tier player, just because they can't find any other game, and can equally win in their tier and in tier below.

And now, Ray and INC, well, let's just say that Ray has different reasons for not liking INC, since according to Ray INC is the one who ruined Ray's QL experience. And I think that that should be discussed between Ray and INC, if INC is willing to listen (which is probably not) and if Ray will admit that (which he also wont do). But I just think it's ridiculous to blame players with 10+ years of experience in Quake just because they can't play in their own tier and end up tierslumming. (Oh, and I wont lie, once you get enough experience to tierslum in like at least tier 1 it does feel good XD )

and yes incubus ruined my ql experience. He stalked me 5 months straight in almost every single game i played during that time. Others have attested to his tendency to bait people, which is exactly what he did. I was still new so i had no idea, believe it or not, that he was finding me through my friendslist (since he sent me a friend invite when i first joined ql in april 2009, yes he sent the invite). See thats' one of his tricks. When he finds a new player to ql he sends them invites so he can find them in games and own them... then later when i figured it out, i removed him outright making it much harder for him )especially once i started my own clan (PIP) of 100 people and had a legion of people helping me fight him in games), but it didn't take away the negative experience i had for those 5 months. Now just think about how many other people have had to put up with guys like him. This game (id) does almost nothing to curtail repeat offenders (it took months for tommeh to get banned, despite numerous posts on the forum, heck i even saw tommeh teamkill (on silent night in 2010 using nuke, with SPONGE in the game, and nothing was done!!!!!!! ).

yes i'm sure it feels good to tierslum... it doesn't make it right however... and it certainly isn't helping to revive ql's playerbase, it's doing the exact opposite, albeit in small enough numbers that the majority of us don't recognize (again, i point to my alexa screenshot, don't negate the obvious, ql is going downhill, the naysayers as diplodok likes to call us, are not inflating it. btw: there's only 4 tiers (as id suggests) although we all know duel has like 8 levels now, and other teammodes have only 3 (have yet to find one tier 1 player on ql (in teamgames) (by checking their profile), so until someone finds one, i say there's only 3 tiers not 4).

.....you should know that all new players are grouped in tier 3 to start for 20 games now, so the reason you see them in your games is simple, id put them there. So ofcourse they're going to disconnect and rage because they just started and have no idea what they're doing. It's id's fault, but once again they won't admit their mistakes (like the recent shotgn nerf, which they reversed after the fact, did they even test it at all?, answer no, because noone in na plays tdm enough to give good advice). so no i dont' blame you, but you could haev just disc'd yourself especially after realizing you were in a tier 2 game... then again it comes back down to stats and people caring about them (and their disc %). New players should start in tier 2 and the ability to play down should be limited to one tier. That would stop guys like incubus period, IF, IF, the range for tier 3-4 didn't sway from 50-65 and 65-100 (which is ridiculously broad) as a mid tier 3 player will raise the sv_skillrating in a tier 2 game high enough making it possible for a tier 4 player to ultimately join once it reaches 65 (a vast majority of players have a skillrating over 50 because its' damm easy to do as it's (the sv_skillrating) based solely on wins/losses right now instead of skill) and all it takes is for a noob to play on the team of a tier 4 player and winning.

It takes on average about based on my tests) 15 straight losses to move back down a level (drop 40 sv points) but only 8 to move back up to as high as 100. (Once you reach a rating over 65 it's very difficult to ever drop back down below 50 unless done on purpose and over a long period of time (and as i've shown, people like ssurfer can still maintain a tier 4 rating in ctf despite his 30% overall win/loss. That's why the majority of players end up in tier 3, because it's too hard to maintain an sv rating to stay at tier 2.

Once again, id knows about these problems, and despite their excuses (the player base is too low) and attempts to hide those facts (hiding awards/leaderboards), it shouldn't stop them from at least attempting to adress the problems in ctf, especially when they could (at the very least) start by cloning some of the positives from ca (not allowing 4v2 situations). There's a reason ca is flourishing as a gametype and its' not simply because you can +back with rockets all over the map, but because games don't end up 8-0 85% of the time.

There have been so many good suggestions made from people like wobbo, imiol & rexcramer that adress these problems and how they can be fixed.... (now, not suggestions made by some players like v_maru_v , who are looking way too far in the future (since 20 tiers aren't possible right now for obvious reasons, if ever)),

I know the problems in this game, i've played over 10,000 ql games, but like kitten, i'm silenced so the oblivious masses can continue to post on the forums not knowing the reasons for their frustrations. (why they're getting owned, i call it job security for the moderators and the appearance of an active game). If everyone knew the truth on how things are, less people would stick around and frequent the forums (id's lifeline at the moment). Then again, all id has to do is fix these problems and more people will start playing again. But its' been 2 years and there will be a point in time when the majority of us just give up, especially those looking simply for a 2nd method of payment (paypal) and those here on esr who have been asking for GTV, Ladders etc etc.

Don't put words in my mouth. i haven't said i hate quake, i said i hate who's running it and how they're running it, words you've said yourself almost verbatim. I'm a lifelong devotee to quake 1/2 but id's actions of late in ql have put a bad taste in my mouth and given me serious doubts they can continue the franchise into the next generation of gamers.

Certainly if everyone resigned themselves to those facts, you wouldn't still continue to see outrage on the ql forums. My argument however, is two fold, but directly correlates to this cause/effect model; that people are leaving ctf as a gametype due to 1) tierslummers, 2)uneven teams, 3)lack of games, 4)lack of fixes towards the gametype, etc , 5)broken sv rating system and that 1) caused 4).

But one thing that id has slowly changed, is the rule that you can't have more than 2 accounts. That wasn't the case last year, when anyone having found to have more than 2 accounts was banned/warned. Now its' swept under the rug, especially when people starting finding out that, for example, guys like incubus were allowd to have unlimited amounts of accounts. This once again illustrates how he's protected.

Id knows he's slumming by their own admission and they know it's causing people to quit the game. There has to be a reason for that. I'm not a conspiracy theorist so i'll leave that theory to someone else, but it isn't a good business model for id. Unless, and this is part of my battle, they truly don't care about CTF anymore or the NA playerbase in general, and that is the question that will reveal itself soon enough, which would speak volumes about the future of this game and the direction its going. If they put all their money towards european tournaments for european players than why should NA care anymore about id or this game? They might as well pack up and move back to q3, oh wait... inb4 whally says, see i told you so.

If you can just think outside the box for a second, you'd realize that too. For example, if they put all their efforts towards duel, you know ql will continue to stay a niche game and never grow to the orginal size most hoped for (a revival of q3's early years). Seing the marketing trend of this game (no advertising), my money is on it staying small and relatively unchanged. Some people don't want to invest any more time and money into something that isn't going anywhere kitten and that information is vital for them to make that decision. Why train for teamgames that won't be featured as an e-sport when the focus is squarely on duel these days? etc etc

You have your battles, i've seen you post plenty of them here and on the ql. forums, this is mine. I don't see why it's any different. Soon it will have been a year since the last playoffs on bibsql.com and then maybe you'll understand why ctf is on its last leg unless something is done to revive this once robust gametype on north american servers. There were plenty of warning signs.

Again i point to the posts, that you will remember, made by people like imiol, rexcramer and wobbo who made the best arguments for/against the current state of CTF and the fixes to be applied to it. The subscription model didn't cause people to stop playing CTF, they stopped playing CTF because CA is more friendly and balanced. Those fixes can easily be applied to CTF if enough outcry to save the genre is created. If i end this thread, nothing will happen and noone will be held accountable. Who wins? you? me? anyone? no. the dominoes will just continue to fall in a new direction....

It can easily be said that 8 or 9 out of 10 ctf games end up in 8-0 or 8-1 games on NA servers. That is a broken gametype... An increase in the playerbase alone won't reverse that trend, People will still be able to start games with 5 players on one side and just 2 on another. You certainly don't expect people to even the teams, you know just as well as i do that that rarely happens.

I know it's kind of funny, cause INC isnt the only one who tierslums, Dark used to do it too. (Now I tierslum of Dark) But the crusade is against INC only . . . . So go figure.

Don't forget the diff between incubus and everyone else in NA is that incubus has special permission by syncerror to have as many accounts as he wants, etc. Thats' what sets him apart and that's what makes syncerror liable for incubus' actions. Actions that are forgivable to some, but when you look back, you'll understand he set the trend with lollercopter. A trend guys like herc, mythz, av8r, etc continue to follow to this day. It has helped eviscerate the na ctf playerbase.

See, what syncerror and co did, smartly so, is remove the ability for people to replay old demos (pre-live ql) , many demos of which i had showing incubus harassing players, using racist language, teamkilling (when he's losing and blamign it on his teammates) and ofcourse tierslumming, something he has really perfected as an art.

to kg: about 40-50%. Which is a lot considering how few are left. That's based on about 3 stackers, 1 or 2 tierslummers per game, and 1 cheater / 5 games (depending on server/time,etc) out of a 10-12 player server. Like i said, it's a terrible situation. And CA is getting to be just as bad (they have way more cheaters than ctf has). NA is really becoming strictly CA since FFA and duel are also starting to dwindle in players.

i haven't raged at you, but yes i have questioned your loyalties. Not hard to do considering incubus was someone you also raged against on pip like everyone else. He's not just my problem...

to ceaser: i'm not the best or worst, i'm just an average tier 4 player but i do have some epic days. For me it all comes down to concentration. Sometimes when i'm feeling it (after 20 games=takes me a while to warm up O.O) i'm able to hit almost every rail making me quite dominant at times on vortex portal but i certainly can't do it every game like foole/loldsn/jones/imitated. I really don't know how they do it... oh wait....

I thought that the point of PIP was raging at INC, flaming everyone and everything, and posting nudes on our 18+ forum :(

haha someone told me i was always mentioned on this website. I think rays a good guy. The main problem is people use the "its just a video game" mentality to act different then they would in real life. Even ID themselves it seems and this is their livelihood. its jokes...

but tier slumming def ruined the game.

quake has been completely dead for over 10 years. ql resurrected it and the beta was great for a year. then the subscription model, and the rude people pwning public servers drove 80% of them away from the game.

now even starting in May alt account bots have just been pwning quake adding insult to injury.

autobalance in matches would be nice, one reason valve games like css are the most popular fps games on the pc. and quake is forgotten and uknown.

alt accounts and allowing people to up tier and down tier at will make any skill matching a false advertisement and a facade.

and the selfish attitude of most of this community.

REAL LIFE professional sports programs that are shown on tv should have been ID's template. there is no diff, those who say so just want an excuse to act dishonorable towards other people safely anonymous behind their pc screens...... thats all it boils down to.
