absolutely...also imho THE best q2tdm'er ever to play q2dm3, a Michael Jordan of sorts because he raised the level of play(no pun) among his teammates...(Poland's CLEANER a very close 2nd on dm3). Just year after year consistent top-level performance in different league teamplay.

yea ofc...that's kinda the "odd" thing about q2 --- the so-called "threeleet" duelers (Damiah,Purri,Provi) also formed the core of the best tdm squads too...on any map and in any config (2v2/4v4).

it's somewhat similar in quake3. Most of the best tdm players were also elite duelers. E.g. prozac, cooller, fox, stelam and czm.

Especially czm was amazing in tdm. He had a ridiculous config with a ton of binds, where he could almost talk to people in english using hotkeys. It's sad that the USA has no tdm scene whatsoever anymore, I miss the great games like stickman vs ck etc :/

yea Im not nearly as familiar with the older skool q3 scene...yea now that I think about it, all the team q3 movies/highlight clips featured those names, who were also duelers...

+++ for hot key/bind ninjas like czm! In q2tdm with the long delay between weap/ammo spawning, you need at least four different types of ammo drops, weap/ammo combo drops, pwrups drops, binds for various enemy locations, friendly location msg binds, etc...a completely separate skillset by itself!

A few years ago when the top qw teams were still using teamsay instead of steamspeak the amount of teammsg spam was overwhelming. And the most impressive part of it was that they were actually reading all that stuff too.

I loved that qwtdm time more then nowadays with teamspeak.

The communication Fragomatic had going using team messages was astonishing to say the least. Would've been so nice to see that lineup (Valla, Manu, Xantom, Xterm) in their best shape against the modern tVS. :)

maybe your definition of 'best' is just greatly different than mine.

Give me an example of prozac getting top8 in a duel tourney or from cooller getting top3 in a tdm compo (cuz hey top3 should mean he's around the best 12 which is okish for someone who is top3 in duel) or stelam doing good in a duel tourney (which might have actually hapened but I forgot).

The thing is that they all have their basic movement + aim + reaction stuff etc. which makes them ok in both tdm and duel. But the thing which makes duel players great is their ability to read the opponents mind in the duel, and that skill is not found in TDM players.
And the other way around in TDM it's a shitload more important to see what your teamm8's need and communicate attacks etc, which you don't see 1v1 players do.

(this is prolly why I'm a big fox fan though cuz he can actually do both)

Mm I thought Blue joined MM after he did beat Shub at that awesome quake2 duel lan tourny where Rufus , Makaveli and many others attented (if I'm right). Was first online tournement that I followed online and it was truely amazing.

Most of MM went inactive at early q3 release (Shub went to the army, Dark played q3 not for long) Only Blue stayed for a while, till eurocup 2 with Allstar team, If my memory is correct.

Still remember Blue beeing kicked during his Tourney4 game at some american lan for using a 'cheat config setting'.

And what about deathrow or abuse? I think deathrow had thresh, makaveli, immortal & unholy at one point. Not a bad little team. And abuse of course had the legendary lordvader, and some amazing teamplay. I'm not sure if the top usa team ever played the top euro team at lan during that period though.

Yes and I don't like that to be honest. My team consists of very talented players and I think we play good as a team, and you can clearly see that. Also I find it slightly disrespecting against 4K. There is no way I played alone in this game. If I would have it would not even been remotely close :)

Then again, yes it's probably just to get hits to page so perhaps not take it to literally.

I'm not here to complain or fish for comments. I'm just speaking my mind :)

if u do do u think its worth trading a few more % accuracy for bad dodging and poor overall situation awareness while beein zoomlocked shafting one enemy?

I zoom in situations and with most weapons. I'm not sure how often I zoom currently, but depending on situation/distance I tend to use the zoom with most weapons if needed.

When I use zoom it's normally not important for me to dodge, since I would not zoom if I'm located very close to my opponent and he has a chance to do more damage than me, since I consider dodging more important than aiming in many cases in current 'high lvl' TDM. I'm not saying aiming is not important, but that comes more natural for most, while dodging does not :)

Dunno if I make any sense right now. I always thought I had a 'high' zoomfov value! Good to know my eyesight is not getting to bad after all these years!

btw stermy and cooller both use zoomfov 40 while the value of 70 is mostly used by ppl who zoom alot with lg (strenx and now killsen) hence my question
