These quakelive demos are as interesting as the germany vs australia football game.

For good games check out ventz vs chacha and dandaking vs chacha. More interesting than the grand final games.

I think the consensus is that Germany-Australia was the best match of the world cup so far. That was spectacular football, unlike the boring british kick and rush crap.

So you are such a brit-homer that it is obligatory for you to hate on anything german, even if it is actually damn cool?

I mean, I certainly don't like everything about Germany, but that game was spectacular, with great technical football. It was everything the english team dreams of being, and the most fun game to watch for neutral spectators so far in the championship. Most other games have been dull, this however was fireworks, and interestingly enough not played on force and strength but extremely technical; also, the german team is the youngest in the whole World Cup with an average around 25 years.

On another note, with wou being english, is it too much to ask to write even close to properly in your own language?

Any football game would be interesting to the neutral players who have no idea how either team plays. The Australians game produced many errors on their behalf and yes Germany took them to the cleaners. But if you think Germany is one of those "power teams" who will win the world cup then you are clearly mistaking my son.

As for the youngest team it is not Germany it is Ghana. Oh well lets let the German fan boys have their moment of excitement.

The german team is probably too young to win this year.

However, as Germany has been better than England at football forever and probably also will be better forever overall, it is highly likely they will make a better result this time again.

England has basically always sucked, while Germany is in the final pretty much every second World Cup.

The only time England won a title was on a clearly cheated goal IN England while Germany has like 20 top4-finishes at European qnd World championships.

Historically, Germany versus England in football is like Zero4 versus Blokey in Quake: Champions versus randoms.

yeah, all those technical draws sure had me interested....


But funny that all the criticism most negative people can muster is that Germany hasn't proven themselves to be the top favourite of thei World Cup. Big deal, hardly anyone else thinks that either, including what you hear from the German players.

Problem is that no other side did step up and show themselves as the favourite, either. Even though they certainly have all the talent they need.

But rest assured, we have a lot of nay-sayers here in Germany, who argue the team is shit, Löw is the worst coach ever, picked the wrong players, Klose is incredibly bad and always has been, Australia has't been any good sinc 2006, etc. Makes me wonder if they would rather cut their eyes out than watching us get lucky and win it all :P

Germany will do well but i dont think they have what it takes to get into the finals,some fancy and technical play but they are not as aggressive as most of the other teams.

oh guess i failed to mention that i was talking about the Germany vs Australia game. They were not playing aggressive at all,playing tactical/technical football which is good dont get me wrong...

And I know the players that never got chosen and that was for silly reasons obviously, so the current lineup for Germany is not as hot as it could be.

Fuck me you're stupid. +back was played by the Swiss, Greece and the like. Germany actually played a moderately offensive football. Only against the brits did they back away a bit to better use the superior pace of their forwards and midfielders. Go grab yourself a clue FFS, they're up there on the entertainment levels with Chile, Spain and Argentina.

I think the point here is that most hyped teams have played boring and uninspiring football so far, also against weak teams, while Germany played the by far most entertaining game in the first round.

And I think it is worth to point out that England has done very little in football through the years, which makes it a bit farfetched that they always compare themselves with Germany who have done about 10 times more; England is just a little peon in comparison with Germany when it comes to football history. Of course the english team does have a shot at beating the german team in this tournament, but history tells us that chances aren't high.
And things could well stay that way considering Germany was U-17, U-19 and U-21 European champion last year, while England was, you guessed it, nothing.

Of course the tournament really starts tomorrow.
