I've done such charts basing on scores collected by bot watching server like any external game browser. In case of TDM and Duel it's very interesting how game flow looked like.

I was thinking more like a top-down layout view of the map and using colored lines to draw player paths thru the map. And putting an X where a player died and O where a player killed the other player from and have a bright-red arrow drawn from (O-->X) to indicate what O applied to which X.

This way a player can look at his after-game match results on ztn3tourney1 and see, "wow, I die a lot jumping to RA when my opponent is spamming from the two 25-hp bubbles near shards."

This would be more a newbie friendly thing, though.

Keep in mind that Halo 2 did this type of stat-tracking back in 2004/2005.

i'd also like to see a graph of mouse acceleration/velocity over time.

this way you could actually compare 2 replays and see if it's the same player, or notice nice player specific mouse movment.

e.g.

cypher's 360 as a large spike

cooller's overall mouse movent with little spikes all over the place.

fox really smooth and gradient velocity changes.

There are tens of thousands of websites that not just allow user-made content in various forms, but are even intended solely as place for people to post their content on.
Yet somehow, what is already a common and easy thing for many thousands companies, is a huge, almost unsolvable problem for id software.
I think they're just a bunch of lazy asses. If they really wanted to incorporate user content, they could work out a solution in a week or so.

No new employees or current employees are map developers, So the only possible updates for this tuesday will be:

- MVD possibly combined with a QLMME - there has been alot of talk in the QL forums about this, wolfcam and 3rd party developers creating different systems for a better demo experience.

- Backend for Private servers, with possible new commands and possible beginnings of ownership and RCON perhaps

- Further web developments to the site to make it aesthetically pleasing or flow better.

- New modes, Easy to implement - also the devpick servers could be a lead up to this point

In general, only small content updates.

What I can guarantee won't be included (and if any of this would be added i would seriously be amazed):

- New maps - no current developers
- Hub - QL team will never be able to supply this.

The only way you're going to get hub is if Id create a "maps.ql.com" domain where you can use maps there uploaded by other people with your private server.

- Private servers - Think about the increased serverload with everyone creating servers... It doesnt make sense. Ive also heard that they are still trying to negotiate the paying system and ownership issues.

I haven't played much TDM in Qlive because in all games people just quits and destroys the games. Why not a autobalance team function and more settings votable. And some kind of ban for people who quits more then 2 games in one day or something?

Someone told me sometime ago that Qlive has weapon dropping, but I havent seen anybody using it. That should have a major impact on how the teamplay works in Qlive(but is it true?). And also maps to replace the OSP maps that was played in TDM tournaments. Playing dm6, dm7 and dm14 in it's almost baseq3 design is not so fun. So more TDM maps would make it alot more fun.

For 1v1 I get a strange feeling sometimes. It seems like one player always have some kind of edge over the other , I mean theres seems to be like 1 of the players can see the enemy before the enemy sees him. And it doesnt seem to be the one with the lowest ping. Some shots that you make when your about to die, you hear the sound of firing them but no shots are being made.
I would take the old netcode from the OSP era anygiven day over the code that Quakelive uses now. Just to get rid of all the strange shots that is being made in game right now.

And im also up for old maps like aerowalk to be added. I mean even if they are old maps and played out, it's more fun with more maps to choose from that is played somewhat diffrent then others. And with the changes in Quakelive when it comes to speed and weaponbalance this map could workout to be pretty neat to play(fast paced).

I'm against the ban. Anyone could join a TDM while it's in progress and may decide to quit based on their ping (because spectators cannot see what their own ping is!). Banning someone simply because they were trying out their ping would be stupid.

OSP netcode ftw!

Easy fix: Let the spectators see their ping aswell like we always did in OSP/CPMA. To check ping is not a good reason to join a ongoing game. The players playing can react and get a frag for free and items can be taken from the map, screwing up the timing that some player or team may have at the time. So for godsake make LOCKTEAM a feature aswell.

Start a Match System (this system is in limited beta and is not widely available yet)

* Match Visibility Modes - Added support for running private matches in multiple access modes: Public (all players), Friends Only, and Invitation only. The server will only be visible on the match browser to players who have access to join.
* Server Invite System - Added support for choosing friends who should be sent an automatic invite when the match has started.
* Custom Map Rotation - Added support for setting up a map rotation to be played on your private server.
* Improved Error Handling - Improved error handling in match startup so that users are informed why a match may have failed to start (Data Center overloaded, for example).
* Vicinity Locator - Added support for choosing "In My Vicinity" as a match startup location which will automatically choose an ideal data center based on your current GEOIP location.
* Optimized Game Invitation Strings - Join URL invite string length reduced for efficiency.
* Tiered Permission Groups - Organizations may spawn multiple servers at once without joining into matches. Individuals may spawn one server at a time and the server becomes available for others to join once the owner has joined the server.

Misc Fixes

* Fixed the calculations used for shotgun accuracy so that it is now calculated per pellet rather than per firing. If you fire a shotgun blast at an opponent and 2 of the 20 pellets hit, you will have a SG accuracy of 10% (because 10% of the pellets landed) rather than 100% (because a hit was obtained).
* Added heading images to the Match Browser indicating what matches are being displayed. This can be one of the following: Public Matches, Private Matches, Invited Matches.
* Changed the formatting of the tweet used in the "Share" button when choosing to share match results on Twitter.
* Fixed a grammatical error on match stats "Least Deaths" -> "Fewest Deaths"
* Fixed an issue where the "Forgot Your Password" page was not working.
* Fixed an issue where the standalone login page was sometimes not working (this page is mainly used when following a "Join Match" link before being logged into QUAKE LIVE)
* Fixed an issue where sometimes players on your friends list weren't showing up with the proper head icon, the proper cased name, or clan tag.
* Numerous plug-in updates to support current and future functionality.

apparently in his first draft he wrote too much stuff which the rest of id didn't quite want to be announced yet, so it needs rewrite after rewrite till they are happy (and prolly till nothing interesting is left).

At least it brings premium servers closer to reality. We might see some more work on new maps now that this is out of the way.

i am not sure that it does. they added a few features, but thats not what is missing. a way to sell them and a business plan is whats missing and the update doesnt bring us one step closer in that regard

they clearly said they wanted to get out of beta when the premium service is up and running.

Looking at these changes, yes, I think it is a step forward to the removal of the beta tag and the perspective for id staff members to start working on other stuff like game broadcasting, clan managements, map making contests, etc.

but tbh back before quakecon ql felt nearer to a release than now. after about a year of stagnation these few (yet usefull) additions to the server handling cant convince me. i would like to be proven wrong but they do not mention anything about it in the dev blog either :/
