Kuh3liga Winter signups open *update* (25 comments)

Kuh3Liga is preparing for the upcoming Quake Live winter season 2010. The signups just started on 9th of january and will be open until the 18th of january. Unlike Clanbase they offer a Clan Arena league so CA players can rocketjump into action! All matches will be played best-of-three.

Leagues
Quake Live TDM 4v4
Quake Live CTF 4v4
Quake Live CA 5v5

Mappool
TDM maps: qzdm6, qzdm7, qzdm14, qzdm20
CTF maps: qzctf2, qzctf3, qzctf7, qzctf8, qzctf10
CA maps: qzdm6, qzdm20, qzca1, qzca2, qzca3

About questions adding ql guid/id`s ask on quakenet. After adding all guid´s a league admin will control the profile so this can take a little while. When signups are closed the groups will be built and playing starts on 24th on january, exact date will be announced.

TDM Premiereship matches will be played every sunday at 15:00 CDT and Holysh1t TV will broadcast some of the matches.

Please be active and sign up with many teams of all skill levels, and please all be active a bit not only on matchdays. #kuh3net.ql is the channel. I hope i will find some praccies with equal or higher skilled teams in there. :)

they check the playerguids, give them free, after that the teamcaptain/squadleader with admin rights can chose the division.

a squadleader cant chose the division, thats a leagueadmin decision

the SL should add his team to the upcoming season (winter 2010) and set a homemap

4v4 for CTF & TDM, but 5v5 for CA?

Seems like alot of players. Even on pub's 5v5 is- well, I don't know the word to use. I like CA, but 4v4 or even 3v3 I think could have been better, imo.

(i dont play ca) thing is maybe in ql the country special rules from q3 are over, we are now united through ql. for some european countrys q3 ctf was played 5on5 and q3 ra3 was without health/armor decrease when rocketjumping.
ql itself use sometimes more the american gameplay/ruleset, but of course leagues have a choice over playerlimit.

so my question is, in q3 in what countrys was ca played 4on4 or 5on5? and now the q3 ra players playing ql ca, thats some kind of influence too.
and as josh said, what is the official statement for ca 4on4, is it because the new maps fits better with 4on4?

Well, I'm not sure what "new" maps you're talking about, because apparently these maps have been around for a long time.

I was just wondering about 5v5 because with 10 ppl on a map in CA, it always seems like alot.

I don't know if CA has been used in any kind of competition for QL before anyway, and I'm not familiar with Q3 scene.

Having never played anything but pub's, I wonder if CA played in pickups or competitions has any common gameplay objectives other than fragging at high speeds. CTF, Duel & TDM strategies are map, weapon, item timing/control...

But if everyone has all the weapons and there are no items, what's left- map control?

you said it, ca strategy is positioning (traps, hunt, control main areas, advantage places). q3 ca is much faster because there is no decrease of armor when rocketjuming.
5on5 is traditional for ca. i think thats the main reason. for me ca was a pub game in q3.

new maps are qzdm20, qzca1, qzca2, qzca3. maps are only 1 year old.

maps have a influence on game modes. example ctf, as i said it is traditional played in europe with 5on5, in america 4on4 i think. BUT in q3 ctf we have other tournament maps, topic "custom maps in quake live"...most maps in q3 needs 5on5, in my opinion.

kuh3liga is not so big as esl is or clanbase was, so i think they know what the playerbase wants. im not involved in k3l, but i will try to talk with the ca league admin :)

Hrm. I thought those maps were older than that. My bad. I remember qzdm20 & qzca3 coming out on QL, but I thought ca1 & 2 were newer.

Hey, if they're putting together a competition, I would think they do, or at least hope. =) I'm not suggesting a change, I was just wondering, having little knowledge of q3.
