Err, what? $1 for a double cheeseburger at McDonalds/Burger King, $1.25 for a 1/2lb burrito at Taco Bell.

The only place I spend that much is Whataburger. About $8/9 for a 64oz shake, triple cheeseburger (huge patty size, too), and large fry. $5.65 at Jack In The Box for an ultimate cheeseburger (2x patty), large curly fries, and 64oz drink. Dominos/Little Ceasers both have $5 for a large pizza, so long as you carry it out.

Which would be more than enough to eat fast food all day, even. Maybe not at Whataburger, but it's hard to even finish a combo from there anyway. Taco Bell or McDonalds would have plenty to spare.

maybe the initial purchase for some bags of pasta / rice / spice rack / sauces / dressing / nuts

all of those cost next to nothing and last a long time. fruit and veg is cheap and you can do wonders with them all.

the costly thing is meat, but even that's cheap if you're buying cheap processed garbage like they sell in most fast food places. although, it tends to taste nice. :(

Same. Trying to eat healthy when I'm on the road all the damn time is pretty damn hard. You end up eating a lot of the same shit week in and week out because of lack of options.
