I've been thinking about moving out far away for a while, although I haven't looked for a job or anything yet. If I could choose I would go anywhere in East/Southeast Asia or Oceania. About South Korea, which is one of the options I consider, from what Koreans tell me is not quite how you describe it. Food is awesome, women are cute (although a bit crazy if I were to trust random married Korean guys who come here) but it's not clean and they are racist as fuck with anyone non Korean, specially if you have dark skin. I'd pick Japan in a heartbeat.

Went there on vacation last year for two weeks and it was very enjoyable. Tokyo is a very clean city, very safe, there are tons of stuff to do and the culture is very interesting, on the other end of the spectrum from, let's say, the USA. The people are rather quiet and peaceful which to me is priceless. There are some downsides though, people kind of make you feel like you don't really belong if you don't look japanese. For instance you're not supposed to be seated in public transportation if you're a foreigner (or so I take it) and you do get weird looks now and then, but that's part of the culture I guess. Also do NOT expect to do anything in the long run there if you do not speak some japanese. I do not speak a single word and had to use sign language for two weeks to order food and make myself understood, beyond Narita Airport I found very few people willing to speak english.

It can be a fun experience, but I wouldn't live there for more than five years or so. Hope that helped :)

As for ignorance about that topic in general, I've been to Germany (duh), Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and the UK. Have you? (Also to Switzerland and the Czech republic, which certainly have more related food than Iceland...)

I grouped the Nordic nations since they share a clear cultural heritage with the more traditional Germanic nations and they do share a similar food culture. Compare that to the Latin or Slavic countries for example and you'll probably notice the difference.

Being well known isn't much of a factor upon the relative merits of a nations cuisine. Like I said, none of the nations mentioned by you or me can claim to be worth more than the others since they are all as good and bad as each other.

Public transport is super well run. There are ex-pat shops. Fries + mayonnaise. Toastie shops. The fruits of the cannabis plant. Sick + cheap internet for anywhere outside of Scandinavia. Fernandes red grape soda.

The Netherlands public transportation is pretty good, but there are a few dumb things about it.

Chief being the system of "strippen kards". When you're getting on a bus it doesn't make sense for the bus driver to individually stamp cards differently for everyone without a pass. It just takes too much time. Even worse, is when drivers actually sell 2-3 strip cards and then stamp them. Additionally, this also means bus drivers have to ask where you're going, which is hard to explain if you're unable to pronounce words with 15 consonants. =P

Also, they don't accept 5-10 euro bills.

Boston's system is more efficient - everyone pays $1.25 or flashes a card. It's totally automated, quick and easy.

The transportation overall is nice, though.

Aside from that, having consistently freezing weather where you're forced to wear several layers just so you can go outside without feeling numb after 20 minutes kinda sucks -- something you won't have to deal with very often during the winter in Vancouver. I know not all of the East coast is like that, but many parts are still much colder than the West coast, where it snows maybe 3 or 4 weeks tops out of the year, particularly in the Northwest -- usually more around 2-3 weeks in these parts.

There are many general opinions about countries and cultures where some are true and some are not. Ok, its probably an exaggeration that Germans in general are crazy / funny but they are certainly more outgoing and open than most cultures. I was coming with the analogy because the paradox with the theory saying that every person is unique, which have perfect logical sense, is so going the wrong turn in a reality full of patterns which effectively defy the rules of reality and by this, itself. These women would do anything just to get a little bit of attention, even lie. When truth won't help them, and it won't, because it is cold and don't care about right wrong tastes or any human invented value, there is one more alternative remaining. When some kind of form of lie is present, the interlocutors feel then something is not right, and then they try to find the true, and at least this way some kind of dialogue is establish. Of course that it's just a temporary way to keep people mind busy, but it usually works for its short proposed term, same like religion -you don't say your prays all day, just once-twice a day, isn't it? (generally speaking)

Heh, I live now with two Germans that live up to the stereotype: unfunny, obsessed with work, they only eat sausages, their concept of partying is doing a BBQ at 7 o'clock in the afternoon, etc.

It's depressing, they are living in Spain in a flat with swimming pool and everything, 50m from the beach and lots of partying nearby and they never get out of the house (only to go to the office or Lidl).

I can't complain because they don't bother me and they even understand when I arrive with a bunch of drunktards at 6 in the morning and make a huge mess in the flat, but it's still sad :P

EU: Spain, thats about it. Beautiful country, not too expensive, great people amazing history. The drive from Barcelona to Madrid was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Maybe Sweden too, fun place but the long winters would take some getting used to, although I do have family there.

Rest of EU is just too caught up in American bashing as this website stands as a testament. I don't care how nice your country is, or the food or the women. No interest in any of it when I know as soon as I get there I'm just going to be pre-judged and people that don't know me whispering about me behind my back.

Canada, Vancouver YES, amazing city and nice people. Been to Edmonton which was kind of nice but also a bit boring. Toronto, and Montreal, didn't care for them, sort of reminded me of Detroit/Buffalo which I can't stand. Montreal had annoying stuck up anti american french there - which was basically like normal french people but not as well educated.

South America, never been but I'd like to go to Argentina the most, maybe Brazil and Chile.

Space: The possibilities are endless.

I bet if you lived on the moon (and had never stepped foot on the earth) the appeal of what is on earth would be infinitely more interesting than what you will ever see with recent/upcoming space technology/travel.

We're just too technologiclally inept to make space travel that exciting in our lifetime and I don't see this changing anytime soon.

The irony is most people never get to see the wonders of their own planet, which i'm sure is pretty insane in certain parts.

But most likely just somewhere within Croatia (excellent climate (all 4 seasons..and no major natural disasters or deadly animals:) ), safety which a lot of ppl from really urban parts of eu/usa don't know what its like, quality food (meat/ vegetable/fruit)), very diversified in regions so u almost have all kinds of landscapes within 1:30h (seaside, mountains, hills, wide plains etc), good looking women, etc)
