"The participants were also tested for HIV and the authors of the survey were surprised that men who had raped were not more likely to test positive for the virus. "
"I don't think it's cultural per se; I think it has to do with how a lot of us men worldwide were raised.
It is cultural.
The issues of dominance against women, issues of inequality, are pervasive and you find them throughout the world."
That doesn't mean women are treated equally everywhere in the world. No one in their right mind would say that Women's rights and treatment in Middle East or Africa would be at the same level as in Europe.
that's because the contradiction (equality and preferential treatment are not the same)
which will always bring rape into discussion, whatever the country and social attitude, even more, political bullshit might go for undesired results, with condemning people for something they don't understand
every sexual act is a low or moderate act of rape, and many times it is pretty hard to make the difference (not saying that brutal rape don't exist, but the percent is much lower and the rest is arguably rape)
That aside, rape is not a laughing matter. And I am concerned about some opinions voiced in this thread and also about the loose usage of the word in lieu of "ownage". No raped woman will ever even think about getting into gaming because she will be confronted with mindless people who misuse the word, which makes the abuse of women something to mock at. The trivialization of the word is a first step to the legal trivialization, i.e. legalization of rape.

Completely false, nice opinion though... are you a woman?
