I think you need q3a to play q3ta and ta sucks from what I've heard, just play ql and if you want to play q3 just play arena.

q3ta is a game itself, not a mod like cpma or the above mentioned arena (alias ra3)

q3ta rocks with enough players, but as others said nobody plays it.

Nobody plays it + you basically get it for free with qlive.

Well it was only $30 on Steam for the Quake pack. Doesn't include Quake IV for some reason or Quake:ET.

Mainly I'm just moving away from CD games and moving all my crap to Steam and maybe GameZ for WindowZ when they actually get their act together.

Trying to port some of my mod to Quake series atm... Expect it in the next version of "1337 Board" or "Elements of War"
