I could play with MX510 at a friends house and it was no problem and I also own a cheap mx518 clone http://www.trust.com/products/product_detail.aspx?item=15373 and it fits ok too
I tried a Deathadder, Diamondback3G and a Krait at a local store and diamondback seemed to fit better than the krait cause KRAIT felt kind of small :P like for ppl who hold their mouse just with the fingertips

in fact, that's what I'm talking about, open headphones are better than closed ones, but only when you are in your room and there is no noise. If you are in a noisy place, this may be a trouble.

If you plan on attending LANs, get the Sennheiser HD280s.

For lans i use a Beyerdynamic DT 770 M (not Pro) it's better than my old Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. As mic i use a Zalman ZM-MIC1 (nice sound quality, low price).
I have small hands and i use a Logitech G1. My recommendation are Intelli 1.1, Krait or Salmosa for small hands.

DT 770 M is too expensive for me (150€)
HD 280 Pro is also expensive (90€)
AKG K 530 costs about 43€ that I would pay

First thing is I am not a competitive player but I want to become one and wont play quake with my new rig. I will probably start playing CoD4 or 5 and CS1.6 or CSS. Also Ive never been to a LAN but maybe I will in the future (Im just 16 xD ). So I live with my parents and its not noisy in our flat ;).

The size of your mouse depends more on your mousing style rather than your hand size. If you move the mouse around a lot with your wrist and/or fingers, then you'll most likely want a smaller mouse. If you palm it and use more forearm motions for movement, then you'll probably like larger mice. Honestly you may not even know until you start playing seriously and find what you like through trial and error. A couple good mice to start out with that are cheap to figure out how large a mouse you would like to use are the WMO 1.1 and the IE 3.0. They're both cheap, readily available, proven mice that gives you a good idea whether you're a medium to smaller mouse (WMO) kinda guy or larger (IE 3.0) mouse kinda guy. Now once you find something you like, you can step into other mice that will do higher polling rates out of the box. I'd still like to stress that you never know what you're going to like until you really spend some time with a mouse.

As far as headphones, if you get a good pair and take care of them, they will last you for several years. Having said that I honestly wouldn't spend less than $70 on a good pair of headphones. Remember, you get what you pay for. There's also the issue of comfort to keep in mind as well. If you're really looking for cheap headphones, then I'd start at the MDR-V6 (not the MDR-V600) from Sony. If you scour eBay, you can find some HD280Pros from Sennheiser for about the same price as the V6's ($70). For gaming I'm not really sure you need anything better than the HD280pro. They're closed, comfortable, have great sound quality, and are durable as hell. The same goes for the MDR-V6, but they're not as comfortable or quite as durable. And if you're looking at going to LANs eventually, then closed is a must. I wouldn't even look into getting open headphones unless you really needed them for your room. Even then I would still keep a pair of closed headphones for when you went traveling.

and i have nothing but good things to say about them!
asides from being closed, the bass is deep without being crunchy, and the mids and highs are mellow but not drowned out by the bass.
the suspension headband is what i like most.
i have a lot of scarring on the top of my head, but the way the headband is, the weight of the headphones is suspended from your head, not being pressed on, so asides from feeling the cups around my ears, i don't feel any weight.

i have a wide array of headphones, and both the siberias and steelseries 5h offer good directional sound. the 5h's are very low on base, and arent as comfortable as siberias though. despite all the stick they get from people, i think the siberias arent a bad buy.

As with all peripherals, its very personal.

Especially when it comes to mice. The shape remains the most important factor of all. Which fits you isnt only because of the size of your hands, but also how you hold it and the "mousing style" you use. Which is very often related to your sens and gametype. FPS-players, especially duelers, tend to reduce the sens to gain precision and stable shots. This requires a firm grip onto the mouse without the need of little movements, so a palm or claw grip is very common. When you play a more hectic type, like TDM 4v4, you have to be carefull not to loose your speed for looking around, you'll need to able to turn around quickly. Using a finger-grip style gives you more precise movement with a higher sens.
Personally, I also appreciate the sidebuttons of the IMO. They're well placed for the way I hold the mouse.

When it comes to tech. Stay away of laser mice, unless you have a high sens. Intellieye mice (WMO, IMO, IE3) require pollingrate tweaking to perform well, remains 400dpi tho. You can calculate how much dpi is recommended. Basicly, if you use a low sens, on a regular screensize, anything is fine. The Razer 3G optical sensor is the best performer, as shown in Sujoy's mousescore tests.

Personally I dislike razer's own shapes forcing you to hold a mouse with three fingers on top, so only your pinky and thumb holding it on the sides. This doesnt apply to the DA, less to the Krait and I think the Salmosa is okey too (look a bit like WMO/IMO shape on the pics?). The shape of the DA is a bit like the IE3.0 (like began with the Habu, which was a cooperation with MS).

Best advice remains; go to a shop where you can try it all out yourself.

As for the headphones, first decide if you want a closed back or open type. Closed will silence noise around you, but also has some drawbacks such as sweating and a little less natural sound. Stay away from headsets, they're all cheaper builds and sound less good. For comfort, make sure you get a circumaural (full sized) design. This also gives a more "3D soundstage".
Very popular closed headphones are HD280 (affortable), DT770 and ATH-700/900. For open there's HD550 (very affortable - 85 euros here) HD595, DT880 and AKG K601. I can recommend the DT770 over HD280 when it comes to music, as the 280 is too flat, 770 gives more bass and fun sound. If you really dont have all the money, I have a good experience with the HD497 (closed) and HD477 (open), which were in the 50-80 euros pricerange. But I believe they are EOL :(

edit: One more thing about costs; I found it a waste connecting a 200+ euros headphone to an audiocard. If you go into this class, consider using an optical out (every decent audiocard can send stereo PCM digitally) to a reciever with good DAC and amplifier. MAYBE (i havent tested it), the Auzentech Prelude + upgraded DAC comes closer.
