don't stress yourself, timing the mega on dm6 is well known to be the pinnacle of q3 skill. there's also this place called ztn, but you shouldn't be bothered about that.

I cant time it either if it gets delayed once, but I never lost only because of that.

when they're better, when you're losing and really do to need time to come back or if it's close and you need an edge

keep in mind you can use a position advantage to make a pickup totally worthless, it might not give you an ultimate advantage but it keeps you on the same playing field

i have to agree. i used to think timing was EVERYTHING. it definitely helps being able to time well but after watching people like cooller win battles against fully stacked opponents using perfect positioning, i've tried to focus less on grabbing all the armors and running a pattern. map control to me now is being at the right place at the right time rather than being fully stacked and denying your opponent armour.

cooller does time items really well but i was talking about him coming back into the game even when his opponent is totally in control. he does that by positioning himself very well.

I know what you ment, just found it funny still, as coller is mostly known for his godlike timing style and not his aggressivity -check daler, as counterexample, zero4 used to beat him on t4 just taking advantage of daler's very aggressive style -so unless he have to attack, cooller rarely does it, so most frags come close to mega or RA. At least on dm6, because on ztn I've seen him doing some crazy combo-rushes many times.

Also as a good positioning, imo cooller's biggest atu, excepting timing, is he is a very good strafer, better than most pro players. Check for example eswc finals 2003, zero4 had mega and ra, trapped cooller in a close combat situation, he missed three or four rockets and cooller killed him with the LG. And this was not happening just once. Dunno if this is called positioning, too :P

it's not hard to time it off the ra/ya.

assuming it's still 35secs in QL, and given a little variance it's like

0:05 0:40 1:15 1:50 2:25 3:00 -> repeat

keep those times in mind, then just remember how much mega is early or late.

it`s useful, but better time, not use this scheme.

sure it's better to time it precisely, but this gives you a really good idea what time you can expect mega, and if you just remember the time difference to those times, it's pretty much the same as precise timing anyway?

I use decremental timer, when seconds are >=35, I substract, else add 25. Not the numbers is the problem, but that I get caught in fightings/thinking other things so it must be my lazy ass brain

Try this:

N + :40 - :5 = spawn time

Where N = the time the clock says you picked up the megahealth.

It might be a little easier to remember when it spawns this way, helps for me atleast.

So if you picked up the megahealth at 1:15, you would just go 1:15 + :40 = 1:55 - :5 = 1:50...

I guess this looks way more complex than it should be, but it works. It seems to help as I've been falsely accused of using timer hacks before. :O

As I said, timer goes from minute 10:00 to 00:00, I don't have problems making the calculations (I found out for example by myself that it is easier to add when have to substract, I was remembering some about this stuff on an "old" q4max thread, but I forgot), so I am pretty mad at math, and math at me :P
Is just that I forget... let's say I pick up mega and I know is gonna appear again at 3:27, 20 seconds after I ask myself "what second did I say is mega gonna appear? lol". It's more about that I have to get used to time mega, too used with t4, where you just la-la-la-laaa...know that armors will come pretty fast -even there I mostly forget about MH, I would do a bit better if not, lol. Or at least to remember it,and use this to trap my opponent, pros do this on any occassion.

If it goes down then do it backwards...9:55 - 40 = 9:15 + :5 = 9:20. I'm just suggesting what works for me. Well actually I'm not since I don't have trouble figuring out the times or remembering to pick it up, but this is how I learned it.

I don't have problems with timing mega (it's really the only item I time lol :s) - meaning the numbers - but I do have problems with memorizing the time when I should go back and pick it up again. I know the exact time when the next mega is going to appear, but after 10-15 seconds I'm very often forgetting it :f
