Honestly I still love CPMA but each time I play it these days, I try to press my space bar all the time and start walking instead of getting instant 450 UPS or bouncing off a wall.
Once you get used to it, it's like strafe jump, bunny, ramp and double jump - whenever you play an FPS and it's missing, you feel mutilated. :)

but in the end a good csj to start a run is far more rewarding :)

I still use that csj especially when I need more speed than with the simple dash, or to jump over a gap for instance (because you don't go as high with a dash than with a csj), but a dash lets you aim where you want, plus you can use it to do a 180 degrees turn at once, etc..
It's a good alternative because, contrary to say, a RJ script, which overpowers manual RJs by far, it brings new movement possibilities, while a good CSJ remains a better solution in many cases.

Aye - and using the dash at the last second to escape some splash damage feels really great.

it feels even better if you dodge few continous shots in close combat, but you need play UT to do that :P

Got same. vq3, cpm, ca, and so on, became really annoying after getting used to dash start :P I think its cause of lazyness :P

nah that's not just the dash start. Whenever I'm midair near a wall - well first I tend to get close to walls when I jump, and secondly I so want to dash on it. It tears my heart apart each time I can't. :[

nothing worse than someone 'ruining' a decent mid air because they WJ after you've bounced them in the air (or when they're falling from above you) - totally throws your prediction off! guess we'll see people compensating for this in the future.. but i don't see many people doing it right now ; )

Really I think it's a matter of habit. I've got a couple of friends who think air control in CPMA/QW sucks for the exact same reason. :)
When you're used to maps and gameplay you can anticipate that on top of the rest, you know what someone's next move will be, or at least you know what to expect.

eh warsow. i liked it so much more in the 0.12 releas even with people whoring up the eb. in .21 the devs listening to retarded suggestions like powerup delay really killed my interest in this game
