this one's legal though and seems functional. only profit you get is from business that is actually done. no selling no money, and people below your level can earn more money than you do -- both of which are not true in pyramids.

people have already very negative opinion about amway and these weird rallies and cult stuff don't help at all. i also find it disgusting. however the idea of cutting down on marketing costs (50% of product cost? 70%?) and redistributing the savings to make the product cheaper and the people who sell it richer.. well i have no objections. perhaps i'll start a competitive business to amway and do it properly 8)

oh, there are already businesses who are legitimate.
You get their products and try to sell them and with every sale you get a cut of the price. sometimes they will even give you a regular salary.

It's just that those are normal businesses and the jobs are normal travelling salesmen.


Just think about it. All the money people earn has to be generated somewhere and come from the outside! So the only way to get money is through selling products (no matter if it's a legit company or a scam like amway)
It' just that at amway the found ways to split that money very uneven. Meaning some get lots of money and some are getting none.
While in legit companies everyone gets a fair cut.

It is simple mathematics and no matter how good a scheme sounds they stay true. So, even if you are very good and make it to a reasonable income it will always lead others into ruin.

Not necessarily. And in any case, this extra money back is like 3% or something. Only something to worry (or get excited) about if your network is really really big. i.e., not if you just sell stuff. I see it more as a motivation element rather than an evil scheme.

Yeah it may take time, true. I don't see how hotels are necessary as this is internet based? Logistics also taken care of by amway with home delivery companies.


To summarize, the way i understand it now is this:

You sell products that you believe are superior, at a reasonable price (not sure that's reality with quixtar here), to people you know, family, friends etc. Some (perhaps few) like it and keep buying online -- everybody's happy. They may recommend to other people -- you're happier. Some may even decide to join and start selling themselves. Not a requirement, but makes you even happier. This is because if they make profit (and ONLY if they make profit), you may get a little money back (from amway, not a direct 'cut' from the other people's profit).

Watch that before you decide to join :P

what people here promise is that if you work hard you can earn some extra money. i see no problem with either the products or the business model. all the funny tools, rallies and tapes are optional.

you mean the promotional tools or the products? because if you mean the products, i disagree. we tried the SA8 detergent and it really is awesome. and so effective it lasts very long and is thus in fact cheaper than alternatives. i'll keep on buying that regardless of whether i join or not.

forget the scary videos and horror internet stories posted here for a sec -- nobody promised me millions or tried to lie to me (yet, which likely means never). nothing i heard from the people i talked to contradicts any facts nor did they refuse discussions about any question i came up with (including negative ones).
