I just finished my wow gaming when expansion came out i quit. But if you wanna have loads of Fun maybe Alliance Dranei Shaman or Warlock or HUNTER those are best classes Gl.

Race matters a little but not much. Most people claim that Class X sucks at PvP and stuff but it's rarely true :/

I'd go with Druid/Shaman/Hunter if I were you. Since you're not sure, as they all offer a variety of ways to play (Well Hunter not so much but they're fun/you pick up the game quick and PvE is quite easy at the start at least).

If I'll chose Tauren Shaman, which talnet-way shoud I pick? Elemental (I heard that it's better for pvp) or Restoration (better for pvm)? :)

I've never played a Shaman, just go with what seems fun, if it doesn't work you can always respec (1g for first time then 5g iirc)

When you are leveling up you want to avoid regeneration times as much as possible, so you should use elemental/restoration because you will deal pretty good physical damage and use your mana to heal yourself without wasting time sitting.

well, this is a matter of choice :) blizzard is good at balance so there is no "better" pvp/pve class, it's just a matter of what role you want in the gameplay.

let's say you pick a priest, you can use your skill-points to become a healer (which is used both pve and pvp) but then again you're pretty much dependant on someone who can deal damage so it's not a good solo-pvp choice. OR you could put your points in the shadow tree and deal massive damage (with the right gear of course).

for starters i used mage a few years ago, which is a good and pretty easy class, altho i got bored because in the end mage is all about presing 2-3 buttons and not moving that much.

currently i'm playing a shadow priest for fun, nothing serious. havnt even reached 70 yet :)

conclusion.. go for UD mage or ORC warlock imo!

besides this is a team tournament, shamans aint that good since they have almost no crowd control, a mage (for example) is far superior in 5on5 compared to shaman while shamans usually have advantage over mages in duels.

Well they do have chain heal which is good for small scale pvp/pve

Picking a class that you like the play style of is better than picking one because it's meant to be good at PvP though!

yup shamans could be pretty good vs some classes but that's the case for all.. mages having easy vs warriors and rogues having kind of easy vs druids etc :).. shaman is a good caster killer!

If you wanna play horde (i'm personally FOR THE ALLIANCE!) just plz DONT pick Blood Elf (or as they say "lolelf"). Right now almost everyone plays BE and on new realms BE's are like 75% of Horde. And usually Horde is twice or thrice bigger than Alliance...

If I were you I'd go for a mage, fire build for PvP and frost build for PvE. Basically, what I did with my mage was putting talents in frost until I reached lvl 19 and got Coldsnap skill which finishes the cooldown of all frost spells immediately (I mainly use it for double Frost Nova in hard situations). Then it was all about Fire which is the only reasonable option for PvP.

And I'd choose a troll because... I just love their accent ;D

Right now I'm 34 Human Mage on Sporeggar (RPPvP) but gonna reroll on The Sha'tar (RP-Normal). I just got tired of being constantly killed and corpse camped by Lolelfs Loladins 10lvls higher than me in STV.

And the reason to pick RP realm is just more mature atmosphere there. If you find a cool and mature guild you're gonna have a lot more fun than just leveling and pvping. For example, week ago we had a cool World PvP event on Sporeggar when Horde attacked Darkshire. There was like 100 Horde against 80 Alliance (50 of which was my guild ;P). Although I had like 5fps ;D it was a great 2h long fun.

well racial abilities are actually more important than they initially seem. depends on how you wanna use them though.. some racials are useful in a number of situations while some are useful only in a few so you'll have to read through them carefully and choose.

mages are generally a very hard to play.. especially these days since we almost all other classes have caught up with our damage and/or have certain abilities to counter us BUT i find my mage super fun. it's a real good challenge in pvp unlike warlocks :P who can make you run away in fear while damaging you at the same time. mages can also teleport to all major cities so this saves you a LOT of time... especially traveling across continents. you also get unlimited supplies of food and water for hp and mana regeneration since you can conjure them yourself (expect a lot of people to bother you for those though). last but not least, if you're skilled with your mage.. you can AOE grind and level much faster than most classes but it is pretty hard to do at the beginning and you will find yourself dying a lot initially or sacrificing pvp based skills. mages are also sought after for instances as they do pretty good damage and can polymorph enemies (turn into a sheep)

priests are really cool too. you will almost always find a place in a raid group because healers are always required. however, a healing priest can be pretty slow to level from what i've heard.. however if you choose shadow based talents on your priest.. you can do some crazy damage while sacrificing the healing bit.

warlocks are just imbalanced. they have everything and can do everything. they are imbalanced. they are imbalanced. they are boring to play imo. they are imbalanced.

druids are REALLY cool.. they are very versatile and are currently really powerful though most people feel they will be nerfed soon (blizzard loves warlocks too much to let other classes top them :P). they can be awesome tanks, nice healers and they have great damage. plus at level 68 you can turn into a crow and fly :P

i haven't played shamans so i don't know much about them.

i'm guessing you're gonna be on EU servers. if by any chance you're using the US version, join the Illidan server and go Horde so i can kill you :P

I started a hunter not long ago, a nice change from my warlock, has some similarities as well which is cool, ranged attacks, a pet and melee!

hunter melee is close to useless though :P

on another note, I think people get sucked in due to how easy it is to play, and how quick you level at the start, before you know it you'll be level 10-15, then soon as you hit 20 you'll stop leveling in single sessions and then you'll notice you need more time or sessions for it to actually appear you're getting anywhere, certainly if you're still learning the game and areas, so you end up sucked in!

I'm not sure - I found the getting to level 20ish quite tedious. Whenever I hit level 35+ and started doing instances and stuff I got quite immersed in the game. Thats when I began inspecting the other players to see what gear they had.. before I knew it I wanted to get some great gear for myself. So I started playing a lot of instances and before I knew it I was putting in 3-5 hours of playtime a day. That lasted for about two weeks - I uninstalled a few days ago:)

people spend 3-5 hour a day lounging doing nothing or watching TV! =p

blizzard are actually very clever when it comes to game design.. they seem to know exactly where people start to get bored in WoW and put something at that point to counter that.. like by level 30ish most people would tend to get a bit bored with the repetitive questing and grinding but they let you get a mount at 40 which is a big incentive to play on. the same thing occurs in higher levels with gear and other things... like flying mounts now.

Yea, well, somehow I never managed to level my char higher than lvl 34... Got bored at this point. So now I have two Hunters (NElf and Orc), a Shaman (Tauren) and a Mage (Human) on 30-34... And am starting a new char ;D

all i can say is stick it out. that is probably the most boring level bracket of WoW since you're neither doing low end easy quests or high end challenging quests. it's just more of kill this, bring that. my best advice to you would be to get a co-ordinates addon, thottbot the locations and do every single quest in the zone asap. the levels fly by quickly that way.

Yea, I was following Jame's Alliance Leveling Guide (30-41) ( clicky ), but then again I got pissed off by being constantly ganked and CC'ed in STV and quite often in Arathi and Hillsbrad.. So I'm changing to RP-Normal server now.

RP?? are you into that? anyway, ganking can make you tear your hair out at times but it also makes you a better player real quick :) the best part about STV is that it's like an open battleground where anything goes.

Yea, I had some fun RP-ing with my guild on the previous realm. It adds more taste to this game ;) Usually I don't care about fast leveling as I play only 10-12 hours a week. Plus, there's more mature atmosphere on RP servers I noticed. And it's less crowded, which for me is also a plus ;)

They are also very clever in how they balance the game.

Step one: Listen to some whine for a while
Step two: Slightly overpower a class that was being whined about (community says at last Blizzard do listen care!)
Step three: Community whine lots after it becomes apparent a class is overpowere, some reroll and spend more time in wow to level the new class
Step Four: Nerf the class community says "Blizzard care!"
Step Five: Go back to step one

Any caster will do since they're all overpowered. (Speaking from a Player vs Player point of view)

Shadow Priest: High damage but is very mana-inefficient. You'll find yourself without mana after 1 or 2 fights. Another complaint is that priests don't offer much variaty. It's mainly loading people up with DoTs (spells that do damage over time. Example: Shadow Word: Pain, lasts 15 seconds does a total of 1500 damage, so does 300 damage every 3 seconds (these are not the exact numbers but just to gave you an idea of how it works)). Undead is by far the best race for this class cause of the race-specific priest spell they get --> Devouring Plague. This is also a DoT but will even heal you while you do damage.

Mage (standard magician): Has a choice of 3 damage schools: arcane, fire and frost each with their own pro's and cons. Arcane is for instant insane high damage but very mana-inefficient and you'll be worthless when cooldowns (spells that can only be used like once every 5 minutes) are not available. Fire is good and steady damage and is considered the main PvP talent spec. Frost is "lowest" damage of all, but offers alot of survivability. You could either go Undead or Blood Elf with mage. I'd go for Undead cause they're just so much cooler.

Warlock (necromancer): This is a mix between the shadow priest and a fire mage. Warlocks can summon pets and use powerfull spells through soulshards (you gain these shards by "leeching" the soul out of your opponent right before you kill it). You can summon a total of 5 pets (7 if you count the Doomguard and Infernal but these aren't really "pets") which all have their different features (You use only 1 pet at a time). Warlocks use a mix of DoT's (explained earlier) and direct damage and have a very high damage output. Warlocks have some of the coolest spells in-game. You can create healthstones to restore your life when you choose, and make a soulstone to revive yourself after you have died. Currently warlocks are regarded as 1 if not THE best class in-game. Again, with this class either undead or blood elf (I find orcs to look like silly warlocks eventho they were the original first warlocks :p).

I myself am a level 70 Gnome (FTW) warrior. It's a fun class if you like slicing through silly robewearing sissy's with a giant axe / sword, but in reality this is hindered by the fact that ranged class own melee classes any day. It is however extremely satisfying when I actualyl DO get to smash some faces with my epic axe ^^

If you really can't decide -> roll a druid. This class can basically do everything: heal, melee damage and magic damage. At some points they even outperform the class they try to mimic like healing and tanking (GRR, GODDAMN DRUUDS TUK MY JUBZZ). "Jack of all trades, master of none" as Blizzard describes them (my ass).

They won't be good for long (With or without a nerf). A lot of the whine mainly comes from the fact that Druids were useless for about 2 years prior :P

yea people whined too much about druids being underpowered.. what did they expect while rolling the class? they should have been able to do everything but not really excel in one aspect but no, blizzard changed that all. now they can just do everything and own face at everything. kinda sad when warriors, mages and healadins are losing group spots to druids.

It's funny because Warriors are the ones who whined about the Druids bear tanking skills which got toned done but got more DPS to make up for it :D

in a PvP environment, the frost tree with ice shards and shatter is almost as powerful as fire with damage but also gives you survivability.

yes, the time one wastes on esr is more selective, partly due to speed of use, stealth and lack of hardware-demand and partly due to absence of whining guild-members pressing you to either enter the game or stay in x)
