Because its not just about the population. I think my original point stands quite well on its own, I think we all realise that its no surprise why team USA grabs so many medals compared to mexico in track & field. A larger population has a bigger chance of producing talent in sports than a country with 1/10th of its size. However, some countries, like sweden are unique in their way of FINDING talent. Let me bring out a comparison. Canada is HUGE in icehockey. They have more female hockey players than we have male and female combined in sweden. The talent pool is bound to be alot larger in countries like that. Its also about tradition. In sweden we have no real history showing great talent in baseball. First of all, we dont have many baseball players to begin with, secondly since it has no tradition in sweden, its harder to find talent in baseball over here than it is to find talent in ice hockey.

My guess is that in sweden we arent really poor in the way that parents can afford to let their kids try different sports, and in some sports we are better at finding talented youth, despite a much smaller talent pool.

For some odd reason some people don't understand FOOTBALL and think it's slow and boring. Although that is a very slow and quite a boring arguement to make.

it is better to play football than watching it because comparing to hockey it is slow. mainly because of the substitutionsystem that hockey has. too many players also perhaps. and that fucking acting they all tend to do is ridicolous. come on wtf is it? a hockeyplayer gets hit with puck and gets up and goes on. wtf do they do in football? 5 mins of shit acting is quaranteed. large amount of contacts and the chances that the game could turn upside downr in few seconds are much more appealing anyhow.
