i've long decided on a 256gb 840 pro after reading lots of anandtech as my next upgrade. i suggest you do the same (the reading part of course ;).

I suppose 128GB is the same quality wise ? I dont think I will be taking 256GB tbh.

I got a 840 Basic (256 gb) and I'm never ever going back to hard drives again. Ever. Go with this, for 83 quid its a deal.

Basically my decision is down to 840 EVO 250Gb or 840 Pro 128GB, price is almost similar. But from what I gathered from net, pro seems to be potentially longer lasting and maybe faster.. but I could be wrong though.

In the UK a 128 840 pro costs around £110 on ebay..

I got the 840 basic and it does me fine, the price ratio is a lot better on the EVO. But really, if you're not too bothered just pay a bit extra for the pro.

You'll be happy with both and IMO the diff will be next to nothing and i doubt reliablity will be a factor in either, its a fair bit cheaper though.

Samsung. Both are highly reliable. You won't notice the difference in speed.

Prices come down alot! I paid £110 for my ocz vertex 2 60gb just over a year ago. Excelent drives though, never use hdd again.

a cheap 240GB is good enough

i bought memory from them for my current system, month later they stopped making memory, never been able to upgrade cause no similar memory exists. now theyre bust :X

PCIe SSD's are getting more frequent now, with larger sizes and 1500mbps read/write, cost about £400 at the moment but... SO FAST!!

I just built a new system with an 840 PRO. Thing is a fucking beast, power-on, to chrome in about 10-15 seconds :D

in windows 8 you can make it less than half that.
And that's not on the pro drive either, but normal 840!

See with own eyes.

I was thinking of getting Win 8, but I was just not digging the UI, and was too eager to wait for 8.1 ;/ Right now, this is still heaven in comparison to my IBM T42 which would take the better part of 5 minutes to load Chrome after boot-up :/
