evo looks to me like it is about the same as msie 3.0. I just got a g400s. But I would like to state g400s is impossible to claw grip other than that it is perfect.

The ec1evo is a good replacement for my ime. Took me some time to get user to the weight tho. It's heavier.

I know a lot of people here are recommending the Zowie EC1 eVo but I think you should be aware that I once bought one of these to also see whether it is a suitable replacement for my IME 3.0 but to my disappointment I found the black rubber coating to be EXTREMELY slippery, it was virtually impossible for me to hold it properly, essentially rendering the mouse useless.

If it wasn't for that though I would say it was a very nice mouse, build quality was exceptionally good and the sensor seemed great too, although I didn't really test it that much due to the rubber coating...

the white one is glossy, and grip should be fine. only thing about a glossy surface is it will get gross.

Well it might be OK for you but for me it was completely useless, obviously I could hold it, its not like trying to hold an ice cube but it was just so uncomfortable and it felt like I wasn't in full control of the mouse because of it.

In terms of another suggestion, I'm afraid I don't have one. Maybe the glossy white version is better as comrade suggests but I haven't tested it so I cannot say whether its any better. Personally, I still use an IME 3.0, I bought like 5 of them as backups a year or two ago when I found out they were going to stop manufacturing them :P

Which surface (White or Black) is best depends on how much your hands sweat.

If you sweat, you want the black rubberized surface.

If you have dry hands, you want the white surface.

I sweat, and glossy surfaces get slippery, so I will only buy a mouse if it has a textured plastic or rubberized surface like the EC eVo black.

You only got one weird (it's rubber, how can it be more slippery than ie3???) complaint against overwhelming agreement and already panicking? Just try it, chances are you'll like it.

at first the ec evo 1 felt slippery like szr said and the shape of the mouse didn't fully negate it, but it took me just about 1 week to get used to it or maybe the surface changed a little bit during use because i can't feel it anymore.

the two thumb buttons are more difficult to press due to slightly different placement/angle, but again something you can get used to. mouse1 & 2 reach further down making claw cripping easier. the scroll wheel is much better, really sturdy and more pronounced steps. i have had 4 ime's over the years and every one of them had issues with the scroll wheel.

can't really say about weight cause it makes no difference to me. the mouse feet are more slippery than in ime and took me the longest to adjust to.

the sensor seems to be placed better on ec evo, it's well aligned to the shape. i'm using 450dpi/500hz with a ultimat breathe cloth pad and sometimes but rarely the sensor skips and does a 90-180 degree flick in a twisted angle. some people in another thread claimed that mice using nonnative dpi steps add lag, but i haven't noticed anything.

overall opinion: an upgrade compared to ime, with a couple of aspects requiring getting used to.
