I tried it and couldn't get used to the laser sensor and the high lod (shouldn't be an issue with a sensitivity that frickin high though). but it's also kinda small/short, so you should probably try before u buy

Haha I see. The reason why I want a frictionless mouse wheel is because I can bind say jump to it in order to spam jump. That way I won't need scripts, which is even more scrub. I need it right now beacuse I'm speedrunning rage and there is an out of bounds skip that need very consistent jumping, but I'm sure I'll need it in future games I speedrun as well since rapid clicking has a way of breaking things.

Logitech mx510 -- you can open it up and remove a spring on the wheel, thus removing the 'steps'. Suppose you can do it with an mx518 too, but I don't know about their newer models. :)

Ah, no, I don't think so. Maybe some steps, but it won't spin like a wheel of fortune. :)

what you need is a Logitech G9X or G500, they have exactly the wheel you're looking for. considering shape, sensor etc: try before you buy.

you can also consider the G500S, it's probably considered an upgrade. someone else could shed more light here.

Wouldn't recommend the G500s. It has cursor delay.

The deathadder has the best scroll wheel for bunnyhopping. It still is stepped, but there is almost no resistance so you can spam the hell out of commands on it.

Alternatively you can just use a macro with a program like autohotkey, but that might be considered cheating depending on the circumstances. Personally, after years of using it, I prefer the feel of scrolling to jump so I use that in quake now too. It's worth noting that jump can't be bound to scroll in q3/cmpa and warsow though.

It has to be able to keep spinning for a while. It's not like bunny hopping where you only need to spin the wheel when you touch the ground, i need it to be constant and the time it takes to move up the finger to spin the wheel again is too long.

It's for Rage at this instant, i'm speedrunning it and the speed demos archives doesen't allow scripts. The left click works fine for me in vq3/cpm.

I'd just find some shit keyboard or mouse with a turbo button then. That's kind of a dumb rule if hardware is capable of doing it anyway.

Agreed, but they are very hard on that stuff for some reason. Turbo buttons aren't allowed either i believe.

Yes they are only allowed on "systems such as the TurboGrafx-16 that come with official turbo-fire controllers." I'd assume this means no turbo buttons on pc peripherals.
