Give me a real reason why it is worse than a 24" 16/9 tn panel. Prize is another point because whoever spents 300+ bucks on a tn panel is kinda dumb. Especially when he starts to argue about quality :| but w/e.

Easier to run games at over 100fps. Unless you have a muscular card, you will struggle at higher res.

thats not to say it was bad, i just struggled with it, and was coming from a crt.

went back to the crt for a week and eventually got a lg w2363d - which i personally find better.

crt is still superiour when it comes to latency and overall feeling of quake. lcds can suck it.

There is almost no difference between my old crt and my new 120 lcd :O.
Yeah the colors might be better and 160hz was just $$$ but a crt produces way more heat (sux big time in summer!!!!), double or tripple power costs etc.

I always laugh when people put power consumption as a disadvantage on CRT monitor. Really? Next thing I will hear people complain about 100w bulbs.....

Well for me it is because I have to pay the bills myself and if your computer runs several hours a day the sum actually matters ;)

i have w7 as well and an ati. did u try removing the pins from the cable? works fine for me - w7 is shit at overriding the edid from the monitor. this issue has been widely discussed - just google it.

indeed, that´s what i get for not beeing a geek having a 25kg piece of rebel ambiance killer in my room for only playing one game and

seriously, the left side of my 450 is not displaying correctly, it makes weird noise, flickers like in on and off within a split second once in a while and on top of that..it looks like it´s been standing in a fucking cigarclub for the past 10 years.

takes 2 min and the only thing damaged is your attachable vga cable

so i just got the vision master pro 452 but the colors are all messed up, way too dark etc, dafuq should I do? are there any drivers I should install or smt?

try powerstrip to change the colors plus the crt menu itself.

Sure those pins aren't to prevent your monitor from giving your comp the EDID ? would make sense on a old CRT to get it work at 120hz on win7.

ye seems like it aren't the pins either, owner said colors looked perfectly fine for him, I'm clueless :(

got mine at amazon for 159€ about 8 month ago but seems they are not sold anymore. mb look ebay if you are lucky you can find one. Had a crt before and i doent feel any difference in inputlag or anything else with the LG

What are the general requirements one should look for in a monitor these days, to make it 'acceptable' for a game like Quake Live? About to buy my first non-CRT monitor... for QL and Diablo 3.

120hz only? IPS vs TN panel? a too high or low resolution for QL? for example.

Went to a pawn shop yesterday and saw a Dell Trinitron there for 5 euro, was in pretty good shape. Too bad the thing was so damn big and heavy, so yeah... i left it there :< hope i made the right choice.

Dunno about which model, but Dell usually used the mid-high tubes from Sony and not the top ones, so it really depends on the model. Many old CRTs produce bad picture quality nowadays because the extensive use simply wears off the phosphor powder from the screen, resulting in a dimmer/blurrier/darker picture.

Who knows, maybe it's new and it was just standing unused somewhere. You should really check the picture quality because 5€ is nothing for good Dell monitor.

That's definitely not one of the professionals models, but if it's in a good shape (was not used much, not buzzing, sharp) it could well worth 5€ if you can't find a better one.

If you are going for a quake optimal monitor, find yourself a good ol crt. Maybe the ones you posted would be nice to keep for going on lans etc.

NVC said the LG was good but the Samsung 2233RZ is still best. Go for the LG if you really want a 1080p resolution.

Abit expensive, but there is supposedly a 23" version with the same panel and a "normal" design. So I would assume that one is equally awesome.
