This and also I think it might have to do with increased awareness of hand eye cordination when switching, because arm+brain has to re-adapt.

It is a bad habit I admit...but it works (for a short amount of time) :[

I have bad news for you, it also works if you change sensitivity, crosshairs, etc.

so don't restrict your self just to the mouse : )

You will think that the change will make your game better, well maybe it does ( I really don't know if its just a placebo or not, because I experience this same feeling of increase of aim after a change) , but after a while it will disappear, and you will play as bad as before or even worst, and you will not evolve because in every change you will get better and worst after a while, you must stick with the same settings, as long as they are comfortable, and see that you will get better gradually over time.

That's actually quite scary. I used to consider buying a second wmo just incase my first gave out for a replacement but always held off. There were tons on amazon and shit for like �5. I search now and there's absolutely nothing :[

I just switched to one, very nice!

I was using a 3.0, but I wanted something a bit smaller, and lighter. The WMO is a lot lighter, and I find it more comfortable now that I'm on a med-high sens with accel.

Although I wish the mouse cord was thinner and lighter. But, still an awesome mouse :D

this is one of the reasons why there should be a wmo-cooller edition.

wmo mouse cord is terrible (same from ime1.1) and maybe it could be replaced by the 3.0 one (not perfect but better). Also a good plus would be better overall quality (coating and buttons), and ofc a cooller reference.
Sensor and shape are fine.

Honestly, the Kinzu and Xai SHOULD of been the WMO 2.0, they're very comparable. Unfortunately, the Kinzu sensor has a LOT of problems, and is a lot smaller than the WMO.

SS next mouse should be the same shell as the WMO, optical sensor (that offers higher DPI) and possible side buttons (maybe small ones like on the Logitech G3)

In terms of quality, a good mouse. My only issues with it is mostly the grip. There's slippery plastic on the sides, and slippery plastic on the top. If you have sweaty hands, the DA is quite possibly your worst nightmare.

I can overlook the mouse prediction if they were to just have a good grip on all their mice.

You can get a firmware fix for the deathadder (or at least the 3g one) that removes prediction.

Yep.

It's obvious to me the motivation behind the xai's design. Everyone was saying that the wmo is near perfect, except for a few things.

Adding a side button on the left would make it non-ambidextrous, so they had to have one on both sides. They improved the scroll wheel, and added teflon feet and a braided cord.

Then however their business folk said hey, we can't sell some 400 cpi mouse. We have to use the latest and greatest sensor, as high cpi numbers actually sell more units. So now they needed a button to change the cpi as this is standard for variable-cpi mice. Then there was some deal about how to make complex setting changes on the mouse itself. Hence the screen.

When they got finished you had a mouse that was 20+ grams heavier, made use of a controversial laser sensor, and was basically a radical departure from the wmo : /

wmo is not a "gaming" mouse. Because of this the new version shouldn't focus on that market so that it now gets to the "elite office use" one, both in price and marketing.
Examples: microsoft's arc, comfort 3000, comfort 4500, logitech ls1, etc....or furthermore IME1.1

it's true though, i'd prefer something a little lighter and with side buttons on the left. i don't care for the fancy features and the screen but the "profiles" in itself are neat.

From the clips I've seen of him playing it looks like he doesn't move the mouse much, other than to lift it and set it back down. It's like he's constantly flipping and lifting to move around. Watch some demos of him and notice how jittery it is whenever he turns (flipping and lifting).

I tried just about every gaming mouse on the planet and the one's that i kept using for the longest period was the ime3.0, untill i got myself a wmo 1 year ago.

I dont think 1 mouse is better then the other but clearly these 2 are better then the rest in terms of how good you can get with them.

Been using one for quite a while now :) I used to use an MX500, but this feels nicer, and I dont need to move the mouse that fast as I use accel; thats the only letdown of this awesome mouse. This mouse with a deathadder sensor would be perfection for me :)

but for god sake CHANGE THE CORD!. Was the only thing that i didnt like about the wmo. I took the cord from a salmosa mouse.
Even its not like the logitech mouses where u could just unplugg on the pcb board its just 5 wires in the cable, cut the cable inside mouse and solder or just twist those wires, and maybe do it at the usb plugg end aswell. Takes 5-10mins
Get a cord from a laptop mouse or a razer, usaly nice cords

I also reshaped mine to a logitech pilot shape. Its shorter and much thinner in the back, only orginal width where thumb and fingertips are

best mouse ever. worst cable ever.

started with the old light silver 3.0, then kept it aside for a while since it was getting 'frail'. bought 3 WMOs in a row after that, each one died. since they're impossible to find here and i cba ordering it, i went back to my old 3.0 now. it still pwns as good as it used to, love it (but not more than the WMO).

The mousefeet on my 2nd wmo were slightly uneven, so I sanded them and now they're even and have a nice texture. Then I put a sticker on the top.

I've been using the wmo since I played quake2. On and off I've tried several other mice. At least 5 or 6 razer mice (DA, DiamondBack, Salmosa, Lachesis etc) and other trades like logitech, but always came back to the wmo.

But now I've found the right replacement for it: ec2 from zowie. Bought it yesterday and I am quite sure the wmo era is over..for me at least.

PS: the wmo has no prediction, is lighter than the DA, you can grip it the way you want even if you have sweety hands, and its cheap :)

I've owned many in the past and it really is the best mouse I've used so far. Unfortunately, they all died on me and they don't sell them in India anymore. I currently use a 3.0 and while both the sensor and the shape are great, it's a tad too big and too heavy for me.

I'm looking for a replacement. I can't seem to decide between a 5 pack of WMOs (shipping from overseas would be way more expensive than the actual mouse but could still be worth it for a bulk purchase), a Razer Abyssus that I can get for real cheap around here and the new Zowie EC-2. Suggestions are welcome.

Abyssus / EC-2 worth a shot or stick to tried and tested?

I'm thinking myself about getting another smaller mouse as I just can't grip the wmo with solid claw for longer than 10 seconds, I'll possibly get an abyssus or mx300/krait if available for cheap, to me ec2 doesn't seem so much smaller than wmo...

This thread got me interested in the wmo. I didn't know what to expect at first. It's a highly regarded mouse amongst quakers, but it has very out of date technology. After casually playing with it for the past couple of months, I realized why it is such a good mouse for quake. The extremely light weight, perfect claw grip shape, and lack of prediction/negative or positive accel make it highly responsive to subtle hand movements. I feel very in tune with my rotations when I'm using it. Almost as if my brain to hand communication is better.

My only complaint is the serious lack of smoothness the wmo has when compared to contemporary mice. While it "feels" better, there is a noticeable lag involved. The wmo would be completely perfect if it could achieve higher dpi and polling.

more than 250 won't change shit regarding the sensor's performances.
Use 250 or 500, 1000 is supposed to be pretty unstable with this sensor but I've never tried, I cba to convince myself I can feel a millisecond *cough*

Returning back from IE3.0 club to WMO club.

Weird thing is just that WMO feels like it skips randomly sometimes (adds small lag to flick turn). While 3.0 didn't do that, they should have the same sensor ?

I just "modded" my mouse, I put the quotation marks because it's so basic - I removed the red see-through plastic element, now theres a hole into the interior but the mouse feels almost a centimeter smaller now - I like that

it's not so much the weight, but the balance which is a bit different now - it became easier to maneuver from the back

and I really feel the difference in length as the base of my hand (the bigger muscle that runs to the thumb) is much more free now and doesn't have to rest on the red plastic part

but beware of those stupid unflexible notches that hold the base and top of the wmo together, almost impossible to remove

Don't get me started on the notches, it seems that removing them is super easy but those pesky things won't move unless you push them hard with a screwdriver of some sort. I'd rather not open/close it too much.

I think I found the true love with WMO. Tried some other mice for while like ie3.0 and diamondback but after going back to wmo, wow! Now I truely feel it ;)

The shape is just perfect, even it has shitty cable and stock feet arent that great and some neg. accel. But actually stock feet might be better because I don't want too sensitive glide for this light mouse.

I just said that of the few games I spec'd him in, it did look like he was using a new mouse or something because he was moving quite shit and doing lots of 360s and swipes etc as if he was trying to get used to a new mouse

that's not a problem with cooller's or rapha's settings.

the most recognizable difference between a wmo and an abyssus is build quality.
I used an abyssus for about 3 months but I won't have one for at least 2 weeks so today I switched back to a wmo (after trying an ime1.1 and 3.0 for the 999th time; i just don't like them) and the difference is very noticeable. Wmo feels like cheap plastic which absorbs hand sweating very easily, it has worse mouse feet, the F'N CORD, terrible mouse wheel, etc.

i hope someday razer releases an abyssus cooller edition with 500hz, a switch to turn off that led light, and maybe its sides will be a bit taller just like in wmo. And no chrome/mirror/gimmicks please

I had a WMO, and this time I decided to get a IME 3.0.

I think I like the IME better because it is heavier, fits my hand better, clicks better, and has two extra buttons.
