UPDATE
i now tried the /recordnetdemo command with console enabled via the cfg and it works perfectly. i recorded about 7 mins and got a 900kb demo :) yay!

how fast does it play
ok first my specs:
p4 3ghz
1gb ram
radeon 9800pro

I played it with 1024 resolution and turned off all the effects and shadows. it felt like a quicker version of doom3, but sure was a littlebit choppy when i used the jumpads or started strafejumping.

I will try other modes and post it.

/recordnetdemo
it's true there is another command. i used the /recorddemo command and got the huge demo file. the problem is, the /recordnetdemo only works as a client connected to a server. so creating a server on lan wont do it. i did connect to an online server though, but wasnt able to enable the console because i need rcon.
the console is now easy accessable via the menu (if you press escape. you can change maps there, call votes, and other admin stuff). there is a tab called console where you can enter all the commands. but there was no access to that tab without rcon, and i haven't figured out a way to enable the console without the official menu. yet!... still on it.

weapon feeling
disclaimer: i played on a internet server with a ping of 30. my impressions are all very subjective, don't blame me if you play it and don't feel the way i do :)

first of all, i think it feels pretty much like a faster version of doom3. without a doubt you feel the doom3 engine. it' feels not as "light" as quake 3, but i said the same after i switched from q2 to q3 so... let's see how this will develop.
strafejumping is possible, allthough i use it not that much. pretty much like in doom3.

railgun: i had the feeling it had a littlebit more delay than in q3, but this could be a ping/server/lag issue aswell. it's not as strong i think as the q3 rail. no hard facts here yet. you have a zoom for the rail with looks a littlebit futuristic. but then again, zooming is for no-ballers.

shotgun: feels exactly like the doom3 shotgun

nailung: very neat weapon. does A LOT of damage if used propberly. i ran into an enmy with 100/200 and he "nailed" me in about 3secs in close range. the nail does not shot immediatly after you fire, it needs a second or something to start. prettymuch like the doom3 chaingun. you can use the nailgun for distance too, but you have to spam a lot and wider then with the q3 plasma in order to hit something. but you can use it to spam whole floors or entrances, because you just don't want to enter ANYTHING if nails are impacting there...

hyperblaster: q3 plasma. innit.

rocketlauncher: is it just me, or are the rockets AWFULLY slow? they take like forever. the RL feels weird tbh. but it does a lot of damage .

grenadelauncher: is more like the q2 grenade launch, except that the grenades bounce more than in q2. it's quite fun to shoot on jumppads, especially on the edge. making the lift pretty hard to defend. NOTE: only grenades bounce from the jumppads. neither the nailgun, nor other projectiles will be repelled by jumppads.

pummel: yes. it works.

friendlist
there is a friendlist feature like in xbox live or something like that. havne tried it yet. i don't have friends...
