Overwatch Now Has a Hero With Ledge-jump Abilities (7 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 11:53 CST, 7 November 2017 - iMsg
Overwatch's newest Support Hero "Moira", currently playable on the Publich Test Realm Server and set to release sometime during the next weeks, has as a teleport-type ability called "Fade" in her kit that allows her to travel a set distance while being invisible and invincible. Unlike Tracer's Blink ability the player can actually control Moira while she uses Fade. What Blizzard, probably, didn't intend though is that when used at a geometry-object of a certain height Moira can propel herself into the air and gain a lot of momentum doing so making it possible to reach certain spots on the map that she normally wouldn't be able to reach with her normal walk/jump moves. All in all the ability looks very similar to ledge-jumps (double-jumps?) present in games like Quake 2, War§ow and Quake Live. Here's a video of what you can do with Moira's Fade ability at the moment:

I think Winz might be very pleased with this new Hero if Blizzard doesn't remove these properties from Moira's Fade ability.

Reflex Duel Cup #1 - NA *UPDATE* (41 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 16:56 CST, 13 November 2014 - iMsg
Scheduled: 15:00 CST, 22 November 2014 to 21:00 CST, 22 November 2014
Schedule: Passed

Since yesterdays KotH event was scheduled at a bad time for United States of America Mexico Canada NA players, I decided to host a duel cup as a compensation for it. So here we have the very first duel tournament for Reflex!

Have fun and good luck to everybody playing!

UPDATE

As I already stated in one of the comments below this post, unfortunately I will have to slightly change the mappool as some of the maps are not suited for use in a competition. The maps that will be removed from the mappool are:

- FjoRXtourney1: It causes server and client crashes.
- neon: It is not suited for 1on1 gameplay, as it is very open and not very balanced as a whole.

These two maps will be replaced by:

- highrise-a3
- thcdm1-velocity

xero fixed the clipping issues on xdm1 so that one will stay in the pool. I am sorry for having to change the mappool this late into the sign-up phase but I believe that it is better to change the mappool than playing on unbalanced or even not working maps.

I am back biaches! (47 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 15:34 CDT, 11 April 2013 - iMsg
So I have stopped playing Quake Live actively like 6 months ago. Sure from time to time I re-installed it just to check it out again and play some matches but mostly I got raged at the game and it's servers pretty soon and just left again. It even went as far as deleting both my accounts from the game (one dating back to open beta days) and removing ESReality and other Quake related sites from my browser history.

But no matter what I do, it does not seem like I would be able to leave this game ;/. I have tried to concentrate on playing League of Legends competitively and enjoyed it quite a bit. I still will continue to play it and I will try to compete in it, but I realized that I need a second game to not lose motivation for it and since I am too lazy to learn a 3rd game (especially because the only viable game is SCII and that is just way beyond my capabilities as a gamer) I decided to get back to Quake Live again. Sure I will probably rage about the 50-60 ms ping to Frankfurt servers again and again, but in the end this game is beautiful and has a pretty nice, unique community that keeps me entertained (especially here on ESReality ;)).

I even decided to give Pro-Subscription a chance and will buy a 3-month subscription (id Software and Bethesda are still assholes for not allowing PayPal or PaySafe Cards as payment methods but what ever I will just use DirectDebit...) in the next 1-2 weeks. And that's quite a huge step considering I have been bashing the freemium concept of QL since it was introduced and told myself I wouldn't give id Soft a lousy penny until they've fixed the game into a state where it would be worth the investment.

Now I need to get back in the rhythm of playing this game. I'm extremely rusty and need lots of practice to get to the (still piss poor) 1,4k ELO level I had before I quit this game. Anyone who is in the range of 1,2k-1,3k ELO in Duel and is able to play on GER servers comfortably (no ztn-only heroes pls) is free to add me under my nick "WTFProoF" in Quake Live. People with Pro-Account are preferred for now, but people with other subscription-status can add me too, we will just need to have someone who can spawn us a server.

My goals at the moment:
- reach 1,4k ELO asap
- relearn all important maps again
- learn to time by numbers and not by hearth
- finally get my LG to constant 30% acc and not the lousy 24%-26% average
- compete in facit's as often as I can

TL;DR

I am back, getting myself Pro-subscription, searching for duel practice partners in 1,2k-1,3k ELO range (nick in QL "WTFProoF"). Quake is awesome. I am officially an attention whore now... Yay!

Sensitivity calculation in Q3A (22 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 08:28 CDT, 6 April 2012 - iMsg
So. I've searched the ESR forums and googled about the subject of sensitivity calculation in Q3A, but couldn't find usefull info on it. The problem I have is, that I'm going to a local LAN with a Q3A-Tournament (CPMA but vq3 physics) and now I want to transfer my Quake Live sensitivity 1:1 into Q3A.

Here are my specs:

Mouse: Razer DeathAdder 3.5G @ 450 DPI/1000Hz & 5,5 Sens
Mousepad: Roccat Tito
OS: Windows XP with MouseFix & 6/11 Sens
Quake Live Settings:
m_cpi 270
in_mouse 2
m_filter 0
sensitivity 7.83
m_pitch "0.022"
m_yaw "0.022"
cl_mouseaccel 0
resolution: 1680x1050 @120Hz (same in Q3A)

So what I basically want is either a link to a good explanation of how sensitivity calculation in Q3A works, or a sens-converter from QL to Q3A, or someone being so nice and calculating the sensitivity value I have to use in Q3A to get my QL sens for me.

Thx in advance!

Rickrollers Duel-Newbie Cup *PRIZEMONEY* (4 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 15:19 CST, 8 January 2012 - iMsg
After seeing more and more players from different gametypes and even completely new players trying to duel in Warsow during the last months, KeRpaL aka. daxio decided to host a duel tournament directed especially towards those who are new to Warsow Duel and also those who still struggle with this gametype.

The result of his efforts is the Rickrollers Duel-Newbie Cup that will be hold on the 22nd of January 2012 at 16:00 CET. The cup will feature a Double-Elimination bracket with Best of Three (Bo3) matches and a Best of Five (Bo5) Grand Final.

*UPDATE*

The cup now features prizemoney for the 1st and 2nd Place, the money was donated by crizis and a undisclosed donator. The first place finisher can celebrate his win with 75 € and the 2nd place can still walk away with 25 €.

This is the perfect opportunity to try out Warsow, no matter if you've played it some versions ago or are completely new to the game, without getting destroyed by the stronger parts of the duel-community.

Warsow Quicky Cup No3 - KeRpaL wins (17 comments)

After over 5,5 hours of actionpacked War§ow matches the Warsow Quicky Cup No3 finally found it's end in a great Grand Final between Poland *:KeRpaL (formerly known as Daxio) and Poland OVEN|Cremator.

To get there both players had to take down tough opponents like Poland KnoogeR, Russia mod/Leshka, the omnious Europe isman and last but not least Sweden ORDER`Falcky who took 3rd place after losing 0:2 versus Cremator in the Consolation Final.

I would like to thank all participants and spectators for playing/watching and thus making this cup a great success! Special thanks going out to TStv|Jehar for great casting, despite the connection-issues he had during the stream and adem who helped me promoting the tournament. Thank you guys!

Play More Painkiller Cup (2 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 16:31 CST, 2 December 2011 - iMsg
The Cup has ended: sK1p wins!

sK1p took the victory over AndySYS in the grand-final. Congratulations to the winner(s) and thank you to all participants.

The time has come for some good Painkiller 1on1 action.

This Sunday, on the 4th of December, the first Play More Painkiller Cup will take place on the EU servers of Painkiller. Everyone is welcome to participate in this cup. If you want to participate but don’t have Painkiller you can get yourself Painkiller Lite, a version of Painkiller designated for online-play. If you are from the US or another part of the world outside of EU you still can participate but you probably will have to live with high-ping.

At the moment there are no prizes planned for the cup, its purpose is to bring activity into the dormant PK scene and let you guys have some fun. Also I’m working to get a stream for the tournament, but so far there is nothing set up yet.

If you have suggestions or criticism go to the official forum-post!

Hope to see many of you guys on Sunday, lets rock!

What monitor to buy? (35 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 13:45 CST, 9 November 2011 - iMsg
So, I finally decided to go for a 120Hz monitor, not that I think my game will improve a lot because of it but because I'm getting tired of my 19" Monitor, It is good but small and 60Hz is not the best you could have. I already picked out three monitors I would buy, because they seem to be quite good, are in my price-range (around 200€) and are both available in Germany without a problem. Please don't simply post "BenQ XL2410T" or "Acer GD245HQbid". I know that they both are better than the three I've chosen but they also cost a lot more than I would like to invest. Also CRT is not an option because my eyes are bad enough already and my desk doesn't offer the space for them.

So the first one I picked is the LG Flatron W2363D I could get one for 160,00€ (used). Here is his specs-list:

The second one is the Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ this one would cost me 198,80€ (new). His specs:

The last one is the Asus VG236HE which I would get for 229,00€ (new). But I would only get this one if it would be massively better than the two above because it is a bit more expensive. Here are the specs:

Now I would like to hear from you what you think about those three monitors? I know that the Samsung and the LG ones have a rather bad interpolation, but I won't play on nonnative resolutions so I don't really care about that. How is the inputlag of those monitors? Build quality? I don't have a favorite yet (well except for the LG but only because he is the cheapest one :P) so my decision will be based on the feedback I get here.

It's time to upgrade my PC (49 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 08:38 CDT, 12 October 2011 - iMsg
Ok, I never thought that I would ask for help here but I guess I'm bored and there seem to be some people around here that actually know more than me about PC-Hardware, so here we go:

It has been around 4 years since I upgraded my PC for the last time. This is the usual time that passes between my rig-upgrades. The PC I have at the moment looks like this:

What I want to do with my PC is:

Now we get to the interesting part. I have already looked around a bit and found something I consider "good", so here it comes:

Everything together (+delivery) would cost me 602.66€ at this shop (which is one of the best online shops here in Germany). However I have a limit of 700€ to spend so I could (not must I also can save the 100€ if the upgrades are only minor) buy:

TL;DR: Look at my possible new rig and comment/post suggestions about what could be changed for up to 100 additional Euro (no Intel, if possible Nvidia).

UPDATE

Replaced the GTX560 FTW+ with a GTX560Ti from the same company. Also thinking about getting the AMD Phenom II X6 1100t.

Fake Accounts of Pros in QL? (36 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 15:51 CDT, 26 August 2011 - iMsg
So, since we now have such a wonderfull thing as QLRanks.com I spend some time looking up well known players and analyzing who they are playing/winning and loosing against. There I found a account that has drawn my attention:

France guismo_12 (No Fake Acc)

He has won against people like Germany twister, Germany reload, Denmark GEKKO and Russia agent with some really high scores. I never heard of someone with this nickname. Now I wonder, could it be a fake account from, let's say Strenx? His normal account even isn't in the database but I strongly doubt that he is simply not playing at all.

WGS Duel PROMOD Tournament #1 - 22.05.11 (No comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 07:34 CDT, 14 May 2011 - iMsg
After a long break I'm back to host another Warsow Duel tournament. I enjoyed my off from warsow, but now I again want to help the game since I belive that it has the best duel-community out of all other 1on1-FPS games.

The cup will be held next Sunday (22.05.11) at 16:00 CET and will offer place to up to 32 players, however atleast 8 players must sign up for the cup or it will be moved to next Sunday. The mappool consists out of seven maps (see below) and the modification used is PROMOD. This is a fun cup with no prizes.

I hope to see as much warsow-players as possible in this cup as, in my opinion, it is a good preparation for the TA-DA-BADOM Summer sow cup that will be held on the 5th of June by Falconer and Friends.

WGS Secial Cup: DRAMAMOD! (15 comments)
Posted by WTFProoF?! @ 12:12 CST, 15 February 2011 - iMsg
I'm happy to announce the first cup for the fresh, new and hopefully exciting modification by Finlandcrizis: DRAMAMOD!

I personally really like the mod and also think that there are some people out there who also like it, so I thought that I could aswell make a cup for it. I hope that enough players will sign up and we will get some nice games and DRAMA!

DRAMAMOD is a modification that changes how the armors in warsow stack and how much protection they give. Also it changes most of the weapon-defs (for example less knockback on Rocket Launcher or longer Laser Gun-Beam) to make the game more balanced, it aims mostly to change the duel gametype and make it more fair and not armor-cycle dependent (like player gets Red Armor, rushes to Yellow Armor, selfdamages himself a little and pick it up, then rushes back to Red Armor and pick it up, making a comeback for the out of control player impossible).

I hope that many players will sign-up and check-in and we will have a nice sunday afternoon/evening with lots of Warsow action!

You can downoad the mod by connecting to the DRAMAMOD public Servers:

/connect warsow-esport.net:59000
/connect warsow-esport.net:59001

I'm happy to announce the 3rd WGS Weekly Duel Tournament!

The "WGS Weekly Duel Tourney" is a series of tournaments for Warsow 0.6 in duel. Its goal is to get as many warsow duel players together and to let them have fun and play against each other. We allready have had two tournaments and this is the 3rd edition with a new rule-set. The new rules now should make the competition more fair for non-eu-players.

You can find the full rules here.

I hope to see YOU in the next WGS Weekly Duel Tournament!

Peace
