I'm currently using a Goliathus 2014 (speed) and would like to go to a QCK Heavy (smooth), but better if possible.

Artisan seems to offer the best mouse pads right now. Problem is they have like 9234892384 models.

With this there are four tournaments at CakeCon, namely pro duel ($20,000 total prize pool), open ctf ($20,000 with four-player teams), open duel ($2,000) and trials ($1,000), which is quite nice. I expect rapha to win all four, wearing a wrestling mask, plus bawls chugging as well.

To those add the usual Ventrilo raffle, this year giving away three $10,000 cash prizes ($30k total). Rapha will win that too.

As informed by IGN, id Software's president and porn actor lookalike, Todd Hollenshead, decided to leave the company after 17 years.

id Software president Todd Hollenshead has left the company, Bethesda has confirmed to IGN.

"After many years with the studio, Todd Hollenshead decided to leave id Software to pursue other personal interests," Bethesda's Pete Hines told us. "While Todd was not part of the development teams, he was an integral part of id Software’s success as the business head of the studio and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

Hollenshead's role at id Software changed from CEO president following ZeniMax's acquisition of the studio in 2009.

Idea is not to post the usual long fragmovies or full matches, but instead those single play videos that appear on your youtube subscriptions and favorites, or that are gaming and quake related.

Today cooller was playing and the bot left the server twice, with the subsequent "server is full" message for 30 minutes. After such an act of terrorism, here are some suggestions. Please add yours.

+ Add an internal elo to some players so the bot has better preferences. For example cooller=99999, fox=5000, etc.
+ Use timescale 5. That way it connects to servers faster therefore less time wasted in changing and finding servers.

+ Is there any chance id software gives qlrankstv a priority, special spectating spot or just kick some spec so there aren't full servers for it?
+ Finally a convenience thing. Is it possible to add to ESR the complete stream name in qlrank's case? That way it would show on this site who is being streamed on it, for example cooller.

After being discussed on several occasions it's finally time to start organizing this.

My idea is that ESR hosts a fun online q4 duel cup (hopefully with prize money) that involves 2 of the major current ESR trolls, who back up their claims on Quake4: shadowmaster155 and GOD OF WAR sanchez.
To spice things up, "we" can invite known quake4 players such as toxjq, cooller, ani (as he defeated shadowmaster), 2gd, Jamerio and others up to 4-8 players.

First things first:
- Would anyone watch this?
- Is leveluptv, GDStudio or any other interested in streaming this prestigious event?
- Is there any Quake4 tournament still running?
- Who are the current best Quake4 players so we can invite them?

Feel free to contribute, and I'll gladly participate as an organizer.

after switching back and forth from a wmo to an abyssus, while doing as little effort as possible, I decided to just copy-paste cypher's mouse settings completely.

For that I need to know some of his preferences that aren't in his cfg, for example:
- qlprism?
- windows sens, and if he turns "enhance pointer precision" on or off
- mousefix, and which one he uses
- why does he keep using offset 5, when the default value changed a couple months ago (he should have changed it to 0).
- etc.

does anyone know what he uses, or any way I could ask him about those? should take less than a minute. Thanks.

my second abyssus started jittering a lot, so I'm using the WMO+qck heavy combo again.

Thing is, I can't get used to it. Did the math to go from 450dpi to 400dpi, but it feels too fast and if I leave it as it is then it's too slow.

It has nothing to do with the mouse or mousepad itself, since I've been using them for years and mouserate.exe shows a dead on 499hz rate without any spikes.

here are my settings (which coincidentally are exact same that shadowmaster uses):
- sens 4.25 (new sens should be 4.78125)
- m_pitch 0.018
- m_yaw 0.018
- cl_mouseaccel 0.1
- cl_mouseacceloffset 0 (old default)
- 800x600 (if it matters)
- everything else default, including mouseaccelstyle 0 and m_filter 0.


can anyone post the current mouse settings of rapha, cooller, toxjq (especially him) and other known WMO users?
I'm thinking of using a bit higher accel; about 0.12 or .13.


Also, I thought about getting other mouse feet so the transition from an abyssus becomes easier.
Here I can only get the ones made by steelseries or puretrack's perfect glides.
Anyone has experience with those? Would that be plain unnecessary to get?

just watched the contenders 2 and thought how great it'd be an event with q3 cpm ctf as a side tourney.

It won't work for quakecon but maybe it will in next dreamhack, with ql duel and ql tdm as the main attraction or any other combination such as ql duel and cpm duel (most viable due to lack of players).

The idea behind this is to have a faster paced and high scoring game than ql in some lan events, to have some variety and also to promote its addition to ql or of some maps (duel, ctf, amphi, etc.).


as a side note, can't believe ID spends time improving "tactiquake" instead of releasing a cpm mod

id has added maps from all of them by now so its highly possible that we get more from them.
(btw I didn't add threewave to the list because it was too long, but it's obviously included)

Personally I'm not a big fan of getting old maps into quake live, but there are some true classics that should be in and others should not since this is not quake3 (I don't want cp9 all over again for another 10 years. On the other hand I love the inclusion of Japanese Castles).
Also there are some not widely known maps that are good enough to be in the game, from those mappers and others (pukkatourney2 for example...or the simpsons map for the lulz and cash).


I'll start: ospdm1. I can't believe there's no q2dm1 remake yet, and that's the best the edge remake ever.
It can't be topped so I hope this is the version that gets into ql, and not the one being made by some random noob in the ql forums (one of the worst I've ever seen).

I've been using masking tape for years but I think it's still not perfect due to where I place it, and I truly don't want to buy cheap quality razer hardware for that matter. What I do now is pretty much putting it as far as possible (about 40-45cm from the mouse) and a bit to the right.

I use a wmo (worst mouse cable ever; it gets crooked all the time) + qck heavy (0.6cm height).

how do pros deal with that and with wmo's cable? Hopefully with clear pictures.

today popsq2 on youtube started his usual q2 jumping videos spam fest and today I noticed they use 120 instead of 125 fps, along with 66 [most used setting], 31 [for difficult double jumps] and 90 [dk why]).

why they use 125 fps for high height jumps instead of 120? according to the old graph from q3 125 is one of the optimum settings for getting the most height possible from jumping. Thanks.

also it could come handy what maxfps to use on regular quake2 play, for example what purri and damiah are using right now (I hope they don't change fps while playing 1v1 lol)

as an oldschool player I have this nasty tic of looking at the netgraph A LOT when I'm having PL or lag. Nowadays I'm having lots of PL at night and it seems it'll take some time before I get it fixed.

having said that, can someone upload or link a hud with the netgraph near the health and armor numbers? Now I use the large default one and it seems cooller's hud is the sexiest one so that's a good base.

also is it possible to have a transparent netgraph?
(sadly there's no quake2 like netgraph in quake live)

I´m using a wmo and I cannot like its stock plastic feet. For example the stock ones from ime 3.0 (soft) and mx518 (g feet) are much better. Also I use a qck heavy (cloth).

which mouse feet do you recommend? I dont think its possible to know which one cypher uses or any other q3-ql pro, and please feel free to add any other suggestion (liquid?)

is that wmo or 1.1? on gotfrag they say it's a wmo, and also that there's a shape difference between them (i thought it was same shape but with side buttons).

they also say wmo it's prefered for quake games because of it's shape slightly different than 1.1, even if it does not have side buttons.
1.1 is prefered for cs possibly for the extra buttons.


In both games also it's used the 3.0 so I thought buying one instead of a wmo or a 1.1, but I don't know if it is really too big (I used mx510 a lot, but I don't like the mx500 shape anymore)


which mousepad? i'm thinking about qck+ or heavy, or a puretrak talent

I'm in USA for some months and it's a good oportunity to buy a good/the best fps gaming mouse to replace the one at home (getting old and having wheel problems) and also have a mouse for my laptop here.

At home I have an old mx510@250hz (because it does not support 500hz or more perfectly), removed extra weight (have it since it's release date), medium-low sens, default windows sens (6), playing mostly in 800x600 or 1024x768, etc.

After some research it seems these are the best:
1. mx518

the mx518 does not need to increase hz on the usb port because it has 16bits axis format, which is kinda a good thing but not really important.
But I do care about 1600 dpi because I'm really used to the fake 800dpi from the mx510, so is a good thing to use it in 1600 dpi or I should stick to 800 or 400 dpi? (medium-low sens, because it's easier to aim)

2. ms 3.0
